i can get the handle off the truck. i need the pull the strap (the part of the door handle you pull) away from the bucket (the part that the strap is attached to). i want to paint the handle in two pieces.

if it's like the expedition handles it can't be done.... i bought a set of black navigator door handles with the handle (part you pull) chrome and the bucket in black... i tried separating them and there was no way of doing it without cutting the rod that holds the handle/lever in place.... so i went to the ford dealer and asked them if it could be separated and they said no... and i asked if they could repaint them for me and they said that they could but you would still be able to see some of black paint behind the handle because they wouldn't be able to get the gun behind there at a good enough angle to shoot the paint... but the expedition handles are different from the f150 handles maybe you could completely paint the handles without separating them

just my $0.02

there is a a way to take them apart but it would be putting them back together would be the problem. there is a spring on the back that has tons of pressure on it. and i am afraid to take it off and not get it back on.

What's your actual paint code? There are two different reds listed for the LT handles on Tasca. And yours wouoldn't be anywhere near $300 for 3 handles.

too late now. i purchased new handles and sanded them, and they now have primer on them. i think i was just over-reacting. they look good so far.

i just looked at tasca again. the red's they have are mine (e4). oh well.
