Have you tried contacting UWS? I have always had thier boxes and always been satisfied. Of course they're only about an hour from my house so they are pretty popular here, but either way they should be able to help.

I'm going to checkout a UWS box on thursday. Its my last hope as no one else makes em.

I wish you luck. I've been looking for a few weeks for a box for my truck aswell. Seem like flareside owners are pretty much SOL. I have an 08', maybe youll have better luck with an older model.

I was just heading to a buddy's house and saw a fella with a 04-08 FX4 stepside that had a chest style box down in the bed.

I have. They dont make em. They are the ones that contacted DeeZee for me. They do make 1 for flaresides. Its by special order only and doesnt come in low profile. Which is all i want.

Another vote for UWS toolboxes. Their low profile boxes are the best looking boxes on the market in my opinion.

In my '97 F150 I have a UWS Chest style box that I made some quick disconnect mounts for. I really like that set-up too.

I had a UWS box on my ranger and loved it. I now have a used Tractor Supply box on my truck and the black id all faded and there are no trays in it. Also, the UWS had dividers on the top part to keep small stuff that did not need to be down in the big portion. I will now save up for a UWS and ditch this $40 craigslist box.

hehe i work there

closest one we can get is DZ 8694 (B)

the measurements for a 99 stepside are 52" inner rails 55" (max) over the rails and about 20" down to the bed. there is plenty of room and no worrying about wheel wells jutting in, as they only stick in an inch or two and are far enough back to not be a problem. anything fitting those measurements in black is just the ticket for me. Failing the black i will buy a polished one and have it line X'd in black.

GLORY GLORY I have found the needle in the hay stack. Black low profile tool box that fits my 66" flareside bed. It is the UWS brand and i gotta say, while cheaper, seems to be made better(sans weathertech boxes). Soooo soooo thrilled. Took forever to find one that would fit. Been looking for atleast a month. I'm convinced it is the only one that is made in 66" model.

Do have one question. How do you connect this thing to the bed? No instructions. It has 2 J hooks but no holes in the box for em. Am i supposed to drill them myself?

Thanks!
Rob

Well, I would but the bolts arent the right size! They're way too short. I swear a flareside is a curse.

Ok, got me some longer J bolts. Now I have a question. Where do they go? Should i put them in the middle or closer to the front/rear of the tool box?

Also, it only came with 2. Is it me or wouldnt 4 be better?

Thanks!
