Jump Seat question
Jump Seat question
Hi,
I have an XLT with the jump seat. I was wanting to take it out an replace it with a factory center console that I had seen on E-Bay. Has anyone done this? Can you use the existeing hardware from the jump seat to mount the center console?
Thanks
Bob

Tons of people have done this mod including myself. It's very easy, all you need is the console off ebay. The bolts that hold your jumpseat in are used to bolt the console in. The only difficult think is getting the bolts out. There is quite a lot of torque on them.

I have an 08. I haven't orderd the console yet off e-bay I'm waiting for the person to send me a picture of the one I would actualy be buying. if do get buy which I'm almost sure I will I send you pictures of the jump seat once I get it out. I don think I'll ask much for it. Not sure how much the shipping would be. I'm sure it has some weight to it. I'll let you know
Thanks

i did the swap. really easy to do. took me about 20 minutes, and about 10 minutes of that was figuring out how to get the seat off to get to the back 2 bolts. i sold the jump seat on ebay for about $130 bucks plus shipping
as for the 12 volt, its either accessible once the seat cushions off but if i remember correctly just get the 4 bolts out and once you lift the seat up, you will see a connection that you can just unplug for the 12v source. and it will plug straight into your new console.
its really self explanatory once you get that seat cushion off. you will know what to do. that seat cushions a PIA IMO to get off. i read how to get it off and tried gently and it wouldnt work i got pissed off and started yanking and then it came off. so don't think your pulling to hard, its really snug on there
yank the living hell out of the seat cushion. and that will reveal the back 2 bolts.

When I installed mine the cushion came off easily, it was those damn torx bolts that I had a problem with. They have a ton of torque on them. You will need a t-50 (IIRC) torx bit and a breaker bar. After that its very easy.

...been wanting one for over a year now
