So the past few days I've been thinking about how to mount a flag/flag pole in the bed of my truck...something that I can use to fly my schools colors at our tailgating parties. The kicker is, I wanna be able to fly the flag if/when we road trip to away games. Any ideas on how to secure it so that it with stay strong? I do have a tool box, and I dont mind mounting it strait to that. Any pics/ideas you guys have would be awesome...

step one: remove stake pocket cover

step two: insert wood, metal tubing, ect into stake pocket.

step three: attach flag to said pole

step four:????

Yeah, I had though about that. I was kinda looking for somethin a lil bit nicer though. Like some kind of mount in the center of the box, about where your kobalt emblem is.

Bolt one of these bad boys onto your tool box. Secure flags to them and BAM! You've got yourself a fancy flag mount

 

I can get a picture up tommorrow. I have two flag poles bolted to my Toolbox. I flew my flag for an hour on the highway and it was fine.

 

Here you go,

I attached two pvc pipes to the board, and just made my own rods for the flags. I also put in a safety pin just in case.

Do you have the towing package? Get a hitch receiver and weld the pole onto the flat surface where the ball would mount. should have a problem with that set up.

 

i actually had a buddy making something like this out of 2' square tubing and then welding a long piece of rebar to it then some tabs and mount the flag to that.

but i like RS setup.

 

Not sure if your still looking for ideas. Heres my setup. I used a couple small blocks of wood for clearence of the lip of the toolbox.

 

i dont have any pics of mine right now but i just took 2 "eye bolts" that were the correct diameter for my flag pole and are only threaded about 1" long. drilled 2 holes in the center of the tool box. one high and one low on the centerline. insert flagpole and your done.

oh and when your not flying the flags they are great for throwing a ratchet strap in to tie somethin down real quick. i'll try to get some pics tommorow er somethin but i would strongly suggest this method because its hardly noticable when not being used, very strong, and has multipule uses.

will doing this not put to much stress on the toolbox? i have been wondering how to do this lately for school football games.

 

The toolbox is usually pretty tuff. I figure if a 230 pound man can sit on it with out breaking then a flag isnt gonna do much damage.

 

i mean thats true but you also have a big *** flag mounted to the side with all the wind pressure putting stress on it. i just dont want my 300 dollar toolbox destroyed by doing this.

what if i did a flag mount on the outside and on the inside used a piece of metal and have a hole drilled for each mount for bolt to go thru? would that distribute the stress more evenly? or am i thinking way to much about this
