Line Xing an Undercover plastic tonneau...

I am seriously considering this. My truck is an 07 Copper KR. The ARE PTM lids run about $1200. I have contacted Truckgasm, as he is a Line X dealer in my area. I think (read hope) that I can get the Undercover tonneau ($500) Line X'ed to match my copper paint for around $800 total. Truckgasm is contacting Undercover for a sample to Line X. The Line Xing goes on pretty hot, so there is a worry about is warping the plastic cover.

Am I crazy to try this? Has anyone else tried it? Will it look like crap?

I would think it would look better than black plastic...and PTM Line Xing would give the truck a rugged look. Thoughts? Flames? What say you?

Wow $1200 for an ARE. When I got mine it was around $800-$900.

I called three places in DFW, and $1200 was the best price I could get.

PTM, means paint to match, it refers to the truck color. I would have NO problems driving to Oklahomo to get the deal you got. Where did you get yours, and is the ARE tonneau PTM'ed?

As far as looking better than the black Undercover by itslelf...meh, maybe. If you could get it sprayed on kind of 'smoother' I think it might look a little better.
The black plastic really doesnt look to bad though. Personally I would just leave it.

The part of the cover that goes on top/over the rails is fairly thin also. So, Im not sure what they call 'hot' when they say it goes on hot, but that could def. be a problem area.

I dont think it would be too bad, especially if the color was right on or very close match. You could also get the KR logo in the middle of it. Sounds like a good deal if it would work, but id probably prefer an ARE cover...

lol, yea I figured out what PTM was after I posted.

I got mine in Marlow, OK at Texoma Camper Shells. Yes mine came PTM from ARE. I really can't recommend them as the first install they let me drive off with it not fitting right. The second try, ARE sent the wrong cover. The third time it fits but it still isn't perfect, I just got tired of trying to get it right.

Now this was a few years ago so maybe prices have raised like everything else.

I googled them and this is the number that came up, 580-658-5114. It may be worth checking into though.
