Bumper Opinions

I have been thinking lately that I would like PTM bumpers. The deliema however is that mine are chrome. So I have a few questions. Do you guys think I should powder coat them white? I have some concerns that the white will not match well. I have also been pondering getting a front bumper cover and a roll pan out back. Tell me what you guys think please. I have also heard about the Roush bumper covers however I cannot find a single picture of a rear bumper cover actually on the truck. Thanks guys!

if it is stock, you really have a lot of options. you need to pic a theme for your truck, and then decide what mods fit it. you could always powdercoat them black, and it would look pretty good with a white/black theme. IMO i dont think powdercoated white would look good on white, I think it would clash because they wouldnt match. I could be wrong, I havent seen it done. I think another option you could do would be line-x the bumpers. You could get any color. Black or white. With the white, you would be in the same situation as the powdercoat. Since you have different textures it might look weird, but the line-x would give it a more rugged/tough look. this is a lot of typing, i may have lost you by now, but there is another idea with the line-x. you could get the bottoms of the doors line-x as well to match the bumpers, and that would give you a more uniform look. It would be kinda like a two tone. just some ideas....

Well so far I have a Volant CAI and a Roush grille. Future mods include LT PTM handles and a bed cover (low pro) I also plan at least 20" rims and a 2" rear drop. going for a sport rake look but nothing drastic. Thats why I am leaning towards bumper covers!

what color wheels? chrome? The LT handles are chrome. So are the badges on the truck. If you end up getting more chrome on the truck, the bumpers wont look out of place. I havent seen the bumper covers. do you have a link or picture?

I have the 2 inch rear drop shackles on my truck right now (in my signature), and it doesn't seem like enough to me, also the 22s I have on my truck don't seem enough to me, just a thought when you're customizing your truck. I got my factory bumper painted black and a roll pan off of ebay painted black (not in my signature). That only cost $290.

Dunno if you can see very well, but I have a white/white bumper I have here (in primer) but soon to be completed in actual YZ & CC.

I like the way your truck sits, all I am looking for it the level look but I am not raising the front 2". The badges are chrome, the bumpers are chrome, I took off the factory side steps. I have the stock 17's on the truck now. I will try to get some pictures posted!

go for the 2 inch rear drop shackles then, they are cheap and easy to install. takes 30 minutes tops. I just painted my badges black. Im taking updated pictures of my truck today.
good luck!

Thanks, the only things that will still be chrome are the Roush grille, the bumpers, the emblems, and hopefully some rims. I have the black head lights and mirrors. I guess that is a good mix of chrome, white and black. Should I go with black/chrome rims?

Hey NCSHP......

I agree with rednoved
you need to pic a theme for your truck, and then decide what mods fit it.
But anyway, I've been all the way around the block with this very same question. I've decided to have mine black powdercoated. Hopefully the chrome won't lift when they go to bead blast it {they have informed me that it could} but if it does, I'm just going to take a freaking grinder to the thing, and completely scrub that bumper down to straight steel, then have it Linexed.

I've decided that in a worst case scenario, if I managed to just destroy my bumpers, I'll have to get new ones..... but I will then get the primered kind (for an FX2 or FX4) and have them painted to match...... I think.... but then again, I might end up liking my black bumpers better anyway.... We'll see.

Peace,
Fish

I am actually starting to lean towards front and rear color matched bumper covers. Guess I can kill two birds with one stone that way, I can get a semi unique look and color matched bumpers.... I am getting the LT oxford white handles today.
