That looks great! Now that Schmack mentioned the antenna stub cover, that should get painted next! I would leave the wiper cowls texture as is though, but painted in matte krylon black. Anyways the mirrors look great and they flow perfect with the truck.

they look okay, not a big fan of the painted mirrors though. IMO they just get ruined way too quick, well up here anyway. i wish someone made the stick on mirror caps that could be paint to match, rather than the chrome ones, so i could pop them off and on everytime they needed a repaint.

What do you mean they get ruined too quickly? Not trying to flame you here, just curious as to what you mean (or the problems you have had) as I personally have never had any problems.

My 2006 has had them PTM since new (done at around the 100 mile mark) and I lived in MN up until 3 months ago (about 65,000 miles when I moved). My 97 F150 was also completely redone PTM (as opposed to just the portion that came PTM from the factory). I owned that truck from Summer 96 till summer 06 and had over 300k miles on it when I traded it in. Neither truck has ever had an issue with the painted mirrors (not even a rock chip).

Maybe you have to follow people down gravel roads, i don't know your specific driving conditions. I personally make it a point to try and not let my vehicled get sand blasted (hard in the winter I'll agree). At any rate, I think that if done corectly, they will last as long and look just as good as the rest of the paint on the vehivcle.

i've got chips outta my mirrors already, rubbing 20x10's and no flares, occassionally playing dont help things. i'm just saying there are always super dirty for me and the winter they get road spray so bad, thats why i'd like some one i could pop on and off versus painting the whole mirror. they look good, though dont get me wrong, but there lifespan is short in my neck of the woods.

I got chips in my caps even with flares, its just goin to happen when chit is getting flung everywhere.

The mirrors look good tho, I only think a black truck can pull off having the whole mirror painted. the black painted or unpainted just flows with the windows thats why i only did caps on my red truck.

Yeah, I guess I can definately see a problem if your taking your truck mudding or something like that! I don't take my truck off road at all (though I lived on a gravel road, so it felt like it sometimes). I ran BFG's as my winter tires, and had to redo my 3M film on the rockers after every winter. My tailgate is also peppered as i don't run mud flaps and the rocks bounce off my race trailer and back into the tailgate. It doesn't happen often, but they add up over time. As for the lifespan being short... I think that is going to be relative to the truck use and how well the paint job was origionally done. Like i said before, I had 300k miles on my last truck with no issues, and that was in rural MN (but no off roading, just gravel roads).

Look's great. Im thinking about painting the top portion of the mirrors like the fx2 model. Quick question reguarding the plastic pieces on the side of the bed. They are orignally black but they are starting to fade due to the sun. I tried this product which makes they black again but didn't work to well. I was wondering if I painted them black would they turn out like stock and would I need to clear coat them.

Thanks

I think the best part is how they flow with the LT handles. Before with the LT handles everything on my doors was PTM except the mirrors and now they're done it just completes the look. I think you're rigt about black being the only color being able to pull off the whole mirror PTM look though. IMO the other colors look better with just the caps painted, it gives them a little contrast. I think the white trucks look super sharp with the caps PTM.

well i built it to use it, not to cruise the mall. i dont care what kinda paint you use, rocks flying up at 65 mph is gonna caues a chip in the paint no matter what kind and who applied it.
