Shes All Primed And Looking Beautiful!!!

Okay, so we decide to hold out on priming for the next morning. We wake up around 8:15-ish (EST) and go outside. My friends dad (whos done a lot of painting before) has already set up the bumper on a sawhorse and put a but more Bondo on the holes. We then wrap 120-grit around a block of wood and sand it down

I wipe it down with some paint thinner to clean it all off. I can say that that stuff lets you know if you have open wounds!! Ouch!! I dab a whole 2 coats full on there to make sure I have the bumper all cleaned off. A squeeky return from running my finger down it lets me know I'm done.

^^ Haha, old panties serve as my cleaning rag ^^

Here's the spray gun kit his dad owned. Brand spankin new and never been used before. Also came with a dual-stage water catch thingy.

This one is after we sanded it all down and I cleaned it off, my friend helps his dad strain the thinner into the paint gun:

All the pictures above say the same thing. About 20-30 minutes later it was dry to the touch. He put about 2 coats on it, so it looks beautiful. What amazaed me is that it dried white. I thought it would be primer gray, but came out white. Heres some a few minutes later bolted onto the truck. From a distance I swear it looks like a SVT with the white bumper (kinda)

^^ \/ \/ \/ My friend is holding the valence on. I was thinking about doing that white, but from the looks of it, I think I'm going to leave it as is, or even do it over with gloss black and CC it with the bumper. I left it off because I plan to paint the bumper this weekend. Just for looks \/ \/ \/ ^^

From a distance, you can't tell its just primer, but as you get closer, you can see the difference. I can't wait to do the actual paint and CC! So what do you guys think?!?!

In other news, I also ended up being a last minute save for our boating trip to the Suwannee River when my friends dad's Toyota broke down so we ended up loading my truck and towing HIS boat to the river. I've never lowered a boat into a slipway before, let alone do it with my truck. 2WD handled it no problem. Taking it out I didn't like how much slip the clutch had, but I'm at least proud of saying I've done it before. The boat was a 16' fishing John with a 40-hp 3-cyl on it. The steering linkage broke on us out in the river PLUS the Florida Wildlife people (Game Warden) pulled us over with their little blue lights atop their boats because the girls riding with us were hanging their feet off the bow while in motion. Just a warning... what a day, whew. Let's hear comments...

Looking good Raptor I think the chrome will look ok if you leave the valance black. Witch is my vote.

If you go white I think the white surround will look better.

There was a thread awhile back where someone used a spray paint type of bed liner for his bug shield and lower bumper maybe that would work for you also..

Haha, thanks guys. Keep in mind though, thats only primer! Next weekend I'll be doing the actual paint and clear coat so it will be all shiney and ready for pictures!

I am going to leave the valence black, and the surround chrome (for now). If I still am iffy about it, I'll do the surround in white.

Looking god man! What kind of spray gun is that? That would be handy for small projects.

I'm not sure, I remember seeing the name on the box though, I'll try to get a better look. It was a neat kit, I might have to get one of those. My friend now wants to repaint his Firebird (you can see in some shots) because its cracked, faded, etc.
