Okay then, question for the chrome lovers......

we have this little discussion going on about "blacking out my Stone Green F150", under the post titled, "Question for the blackout fans"....
Now if you hate a blacked out vehicle, you might not even open that thread, right ? :-) I wouldn't, if that were me.

But here's the thing...... ever since forum member Cannonball, posted a fantastic photoshop job of the idea, everyone seems to love it ! {Nassty, and gixxerjasen, does Cannonballs photoshop help you ? Or do you still like the chrome twinkle ? :-}

Showed it to two of my buddies tonight, who said > Blackout, by a long shot !!! <

So now I'm wondering if I'm just asking "all the right guys". Maybe if I ask a bunch of guys "who LOVE chrome"........ :-)

Anyway, I think it looks tough.... extreme.... outdoors'y (even without any camo ;-) No doubt, it would be a big jump to make though !

Chrome lovers, does this just look terrible, or what ?

Fish

personally I guess Im old school. I love my chrome look. I did black out some parts and have a mixture going on. But it blends well for my tastes. But that PS makes the dark stone look good blacked out. The first two pics are older I now have the chrome Roush Grill.

Probably start an argument, , but black out looks Goth (search other threads), and not in a good way. Just plain boring.

ive never been a huge fan of blacked out trucks, but after seeing that proper photoshop i think its definitely the way to go if your going with that rim and tire combo which looks really mean...

Thank you guys....

Hey thenewbreed, old school or not, your truck looks freaking great ! That front end has a really nice balance of chrome and black. To be quite honest, even if I went with chrome, it wasn't going to be completely chromed out, but rather, a mix, somewhat like yours..... and with these wheels > http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...8&autoModClar=

Hey kingfish, no arguments with me. If I didn't want to hear varying opinions, I wouldn't have asked :-) I will go search back through other blackout threads today. Thank you.

Bluefish, your curious ??? Dude, you and I both ! They originally told me 4 to 6 weeks. Well, it's been 6 weeks now, but a couple days ago they told me it could be 3 or 4 weeks more ! Urgggg :-( The only good news, is that the rebate continues to rise. If they would have / could have sold me the exact truck I wanted, the day I walked in, the rebate at that point was only $3500. It's now up to $5750, and climbing. My dealer said in all likelihood it could be up to $6500, by the time my truck gets here. Granted, if I could just take it today, I would.... but the increasing rebate helps to soften the wait :-)

Hey South_ms, yes, I hear you. I definately was not sold "with my own photo shopping", but Cannonball sure made it look great ! :-) BTW, you said
i think its definitely the way to go if your going with that rim and tire combo which looks really mean...
Well, I plan to go with "a" tire and rim combo, which looks "fairly" mean :-) Let me explain; First off, I prefer 18" wheels (instead of 20"s), and more rubber (quite a bit more rubber... 305/65-18"s), which might in fact be a touch taller than those that Cannonball showed. "However" {and I realise this is a pretty big however} I simply can't afford to replace my tires every 10 or 20K (most of the really agressive mud terrains don't last much longer then that.... So I'm going with the popular, but not "quite as agressive" BFG AT KO's. If somebody made a radical agressive looking tire that lasted 50K to 70K, I'd buy it !
Secondly, as far as all black wheels go, I think I'm leaning towards the ATX Thugs > http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...Teflon+Coating

Hey Shinesintx, no doubt about it, it does look military.... also, tough, and agressive..... but now whether or not this would be a good, or a bad thing, I guess, would be up to the individual :-)

Much thanks again guys, for all of your valuable opinions,
Fish

Hey BTW guys.....

during the first go around with the "I'm going to black out my F150" idea, I went on and painted the trailer and wheels on my boat trailer (which were originally just galvanized) satin black. I also ordered some new black fenders, to swap out the silver ones.
I think it looks better with the camo boat, no matter what I do with the truck.....

I don't trailer it with the cover though....
Here's my baby "in her element" :-)

So you gotta' admit, even without the camo rocker panels, which I had originally planned, the blacked out Stone Green idea would definately go better with this boat and trailer, than would a "chromed out" truck.... and the truck will be attached to this boat trailer, litterally 99+% of it's life.....

Peace,
Fish

Blackout is the current fad....and it will die out. Having some chrome will always be in style.

thanks for the compliments on the PS, and the tires I chopped on the truck are actually Mickey Thompson ATZ's which are an aggressive all terrain tire. I have them on my truck and they are wearing quite nice. They also ride nice and have very low noise. If you would like to chop anything else just le me know!

That was a great photoshop and I agree that the blackout look fits well. I am one who loves chrome though. I grew up around trucks (semis) and muscle cars so that's what I love. I think it looks better. Then again, opinions are like buttholes...

Go for what YOU like. It seems that there is a majority of people going to black. If you like to follow trend, then go black. If those are the wheels you are def. going with, go black.

I haven't saw a chrome photoshop pic yet - any takers? Just a thought

There are only two body colors that I would go with for the blacked out option... The most abvious being Black and the other Navy Blue... Don't get me wrong though it still looks nice. Before I bought my FX4 I owned a black 99, 4x4 Expo, all blacked out and I love it!
