HID headlights for 97-03 f150

I have a 98 f150 and want new headlights. The stock ones suck and i cant see anything at night. I just read the other post where it says i cant use 1 piece headlights. It seems that all replacement lights are 1 piece. What lights should i look at then?

early in the model year on the 97's- they were the two piece heads- my truck is a 97 and the headlight is seperate from the corner light (blinker)
When I ordered my lightning headlights- it was a 4 piece set. I did a grill swap at the same time- so forgive the mess- but you should be able to see the headlight is a seperate housing from the corner light housing:

I believe your 98 should be a one piece design, hopefully someone with a 98 will chime in

1998 chiming in here. All 97-03's are TWO PIECE. Any 10th Gen F-150 owner should know that. You can get those ricey one peices but let me tell you this: ~~~THEY WILL NOT FIT PERFECTLY~~~

If Ford wanted you to have a 1 piece, they would have made it that way. The front end has a weird angle and needs that space inbetween the two. I recommend you get the 4-pc setup for both looks and functionality

Be advised if you havent already, switch over to 9007-type Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs. Available at any store (Wal-Mart, AutoZone, etc) for about $50. I immediately noticed an improvement over stock with stock lights. Those plus new heads makes an AWESOME increase in night lighting. See below.

^^ $115.34 Shipped from eBay ^^
9007 Sylvania Silverstar Ultras plus 3157 Amber LEDs in corner lights

Also, in your title, you state HID headlights. That's a new ballpark. Instead of halogen gas, they use a Xenon gas that emits a brighter field of light when the electrons are "excited" from the ballasts. These are the same lights M-Benz and Lexus' and Caddy's have that emit that crazy whitish-blue lights. Look up eBay seller "HID4U" and you can pick up a set for about $100 shipped. I will be ordering a set pretty soon myself.

Hey Raptor.....

You said > Look up eBay seller "HID4U" and you can pick up a set for about $100 shipped. I will be ordering a set pretty soon myself. <

Do you mean HID's made specifically for a Ford F150 ? ....or will these be a "make em' fit" project ??? If they are $100 and I just throw them in, I'll order them first thing.... But if it's going to be a project, I'll keep it in mind....

I'm definately interested. I do a lot of night driving..... most of my return trips from a day of fishing, as I'm rarely off of the water before dark :-) .....and I like to see deer in the road from a max distance !

Thank you,
Fish

why pay 50$ for silverstars when you can get hid systems as low as $80

HID's FTW!

I agree with you 100%,
but for some people they want to just plug in a new bulb and go. They may not know how or want to go thru the complications of the install of hid. Just providing a different viewpoint.

(you can find the silverstars for $37 at Wally World)

I prefer Genuine Ford parts

here is the most sure way. Open your hood.
See the wide black plastic cover that covers the gap between the top of your grill and the frame header?

There are a bunch of plastic screws. (I cant remember exactly- maybe 9?)Remove them and pull out the black plastic plugs the screws were screwed into (very simple to do)

Behind your corner lights- inside the frame/header area you should see a single screw. If you remove this screw only, your corners will pull straight out (might be a little tight, wiggle them some)

If the corners come straight out they are separate from the heads. Also-you definitely have one piece if there is no gap between your stock corners and heads as they are molded in one piece. Two piece designs have a definite gap

ok. i dont think yall got what we were trying to say. you CAN use the one piece, but they dont fit as well as the 2 piece. 2 piece sets look 100000X better in my opinion. just check ebay, there are thousands of sets on there.

yes. harleys are just the same as stock except they have a clear lens and an orange reflector at the bottom there is not structural difference in the headlights themselves. i dont think a harley headlight and a stock orange corner is going to look very good though. just my .02
