Ebay Billet Grills..... Which Grill?

I tried to get this answered yesterday in another section, but never really got the answer that i was looking for so i guess i'll try here....

There's gotta be somebody out there whom has bought one of these.....

Which Grill??????

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need some help on finding the right billet grill for my truck....

It's been a while since i've been on here, so i'm hopeing that i'm posting this in the right section...

I'm looking for the one that is a direct replacement, not an overlay or one where you have to cut the honeycomb out. I've been searching ebay (yes i know, i'm a cheap a$$) and have come up w/ 2 different grill combos. One of the combo has a 197 part number for the upper grill an the other has a 31, but both are supposed to be "replacement" ones, but have different mounting hardwear. And you can't really go by the pics because most of them use the same pics of it installed...

I know somebody out there has had to buy one of these, any help w/ this would be very, very, very appreciated.

Damn, have i completely stumped everybody, or is this one of those questions that has been answered to many times??? I do know that there's plenty of people on here that have billet grills and maybe a few that have done the work themselves. I guess what i'm asking is for sombody to please give me a clue on which one to get. I'm offshore right now and can't get to my truck, if i could, then i could prolly figure it out on my own, but thats why i'm asking on here. Thanks to anyone that can help me.

Well SOB, that could be a good reason i guess...

Let me try again...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...em310024689989

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-20...em320220076379

These are sum examples of what i'm talking about. I'm to the point now that i'm not to concerned about having to cut the honeycomb section out, i just want it to be a full grill that meets up w/ the chrome surround that i have, and not beable to see any left overs.

i dont have a grille (i personally think they are tack, with the exception of the saleen or fx2 grill) but from what iv read and seen i would stay away from overlays. if your going to get a grill go for the entire replacement. it looks alot better and is alot better quality

I love my billet grille. Whatever you choose, READ THE DIRECTIONS and be sure to collect all the screws you takeoff. I'm missing like half of the screws to my plastic parts, lol

dubchris, I like the look of the billet grilles, but I would research these grilles on ebay very good before I buy one. I just bought one a few days ago and tried to install the thing this morning......they didn't include some of the hardware (they gave me crapy little screws and flimsy clips for installation), the instructions were very vague and of all things the grille fins were bent. They also did a crapy job of welding the mounting brackets to the grille and in a couple spots pulled the grille out of place with them.......

I am no mechanic by any definition of the word, but I have done my fair share of work on many of my trucks, and this grille just wansn't built right for my truck. It was listed as a 2004-2008 replacement grille, but you could have fooled me.

If you want my advice, save your money and get one from an actual manufacture, I.E. Carriage Works, Putco, RDX, Stull, Laverne, etc....

I'm saving my money for a Roush or Chrome Lariat grille....

Here is the link to the one I bought, looks just like some of the ones you have found.........

just be carefull before you spend your money on something that you can't use and can't return.......Just my two cents....

Andy

You get what you pay for with the cheapo ebay grilles. Just save your money and buy a Roush. If you don't you'll wish you had.

I got a Stull "Beefy" Billet grill about 3-4 yrs ago for about $140 shipped and sold my old honeycomb grille for $80. I'm not even sure if they still make it. It is a full replacement and was easy to put in. I still love mine. Just click on my sig and it will take you to my gallery.

I agree, don't go with an overlay.

I like carriage works billet grilles. I have put them in both of my trucks. 05 fx4 and 06 lariat. They are full replacements for the uppper and bolt over style on the lower.
