Pros - Cons about different HID headlights
I'm looking for some HID headlights. I am curious about the pros and cons everyone has concluded about the lights they have purchased. I want to get a good bi-xenon kit that will give me high and low beam, but I would like to keep the stock headlights because I think they look great. The only problem with this is I will get flashed by many drivers going down the road. I already get flashed at people from my HID foglights, and they're aimed a hell of a lot lower than my headlights. I don't want to be pulled over by the cops because of my headlights. I am also interested in the quality of the HID high beams with the halogen low beams, but I think that would just suck *** whenever you happen to come across heavy traffic due to the huge difference in brightness. After writing the above, I find that maybe I could change the stock heads if there are any decent, good quality projector headlights out there that look good. From what I've read, lots of aftermarket heads may leak and I know that isn't good for high voltage bulbs. A good aftermarket projector headlight will aim the light beam more direct from what I have read, and the stock reflector headlight mostly scatters the beam, correct? Sorry for the long post, but I would like to know what is best before I shell out the cash for the best of the best.

I don't know crap about HID's other than that Mazda's and Cadillac's have them OEM, so if you aim them right, you can have them looking like those without having it in peoples eyes.
I got a kit from flashplus on ebay. Very high quality, easy to install, cheap. Highly recommend them.
As far as scattering. Mine don't seem to scatter a whole lot. I've compared mine to my mom's Mazda3 and they don't look much different. Mine are aimed way up in the air, and I've only been flashed once.
As for cops. Call your PD, and see what their take is on after market HID's. I live right down the street from a PD, and they don't give a ...... They're too busy going 80 down my street (30 zone,) trying to get to other places. I've had colored lights in my car when I was a bit younger, and the only time I ever got pulled over was because I was going much faster than I should have been and the cop didn't have time to radar me. Bottom line - you're probably fine.
I wouldn't recommend getting after market lights. I've seen some up close and I don't like the look and finish, or the way they fit. A better option may be to retrofit some projectors from another vehicle into your stock housing. You will need to get them open, but atleast you'll know you've sealed them right when you're done. (Check my posts, I did one on painting headlights earlier. Good go-by for sealing them back up.)

Honestly there's no need to change your headlights. By changing to HID bulbs will be enough and brighten the road ahead of you.
HID are basically divided into 6 sections. 3~4K, 5K, 6K, 8K 10K and 12K. 3K is more yellow (to be correct it's yellow), 5K and 6K are more in the white area (6K will have a bit blue compare to 5K). 8K will be half blue and white. 10K and 12K are simply blue. Most common used are 5K~8K. I use 6K and loved it. My lights don't scatter and it shouldn't scatter on yours if you decide to install HID.
I live in Northern California and PD are pretty strict on headlight colors. Most PD in my area are ok with 8K, but once you reach 10K and 12K you'll realize your popularity with PD.

i have 8k on both my fogs and headlights and love them. Very bright. I looked around on ebay and found a seller and price i thought sounded good and went for them. I like the "blueish" light, you get a lot of glances during the night because of the custom look! if you want a whiter light look into 6ks, I believe its the color bmws have.

yeah i have heard that 6ks are brighter. I personally think 8ks have plenty of light, i havent had any problems. But really its just whatever color you personally like. The blue light from mine did take a little while to get used to...
