clear directionals

just stopped by my local speed shop for my clear directionals. Autozone only carries Sylvania Silverstar "clear" bulbs, and they still seem to have a slight amber tint to them. I didn't want to go online and order Stealth, they seemed a bit steep for just directional bulbs, so I stopped in a shop here, and they ordered me some Pilot clears. $5 and some change a piece, and they don't have any tint to them. They are actually coated in a chrome colored finish. I'm picking them up tomorrow, will take some pics when they are installed.

Well I got them today and installed them, they are probably one of the best cheap mods to clean up the front end a bit. When I put them on it was dark, but I will take some pics tomorrow and post them after work. The bulb is Pilot XC Xenon Chromes, part number XC-3057A. The cost a little over $5 a piece, and are basically chrome finished. I don't think they will cause a problem with the law, they still flash amber, but when off are chrome. Plus you still have the amber corner lens in the headlight assembly. I'm VERY happy with the bulbs, I know it sounds like a little thing to make a big deal of, but I think it drastically improves the look of the front. I'll have pics in my gallery tomorrow.

Hey, thanks NCSU, I'm not completely computer savvy, wasn't sure how to post a picture in the thread. Hey, maybe you can tell me how to make a sig with a pic of my truck? I'll just have to get a good shot one of these days to use

Great looking truck Ryan!

The 2008 version of my 2007 (SCab, 4x4, XLT, 5.4 and Chrome Package).

I'll have to go stare at my "full frontal" tomorrow and decide if I want to go this route.

Thanks alot man, I need to get some better pics up. I personally love the 18" chrome 5 spokes, would not trade them for anything! I feel the chrome directionals really "complete" the look of the front, they look great on the chrome package. next up is the Hella LED tails. I kinda want to go the smoked route on the tails and third brake light, not sure if Hella makes a smoked version.

When I get my L-style headlights, I'm going to put some clear turn bulbs into it so it dosen't show too much orange and take away from the chrome. Are the bulbs you guys are using the same for the '98s too?

Here they are w/o the standard orange bulbs, they would basically look this way with clear turns or chrome turn bulbs. Puttting a orange turn bulb in there would look too weird. The strip on the bottom is all the orange I need.

Why would they sell those clear oem headlights with bulbs, but use an amber bulb??? They were trying to go clear, thye shoulda used a chrome directional in the kit. However...those WILL get you pulled over. You need amber reflectors on the front end. I don't mind the amber reflectors, they don't take away from the rest of the light too much.

I'm not sure if your PN is 3057 for the directionals. I'm going to take a wild guess and say yes, but you should double check. It's easy enough to go to Autozone or VIP or someplace and look in the book to see what replacement bulb you need. If your directionals are 3057, then yes, you can use the pilot lights....or spend $25 a piece for Stealth
