I don't see why people don't like "street trucks because they don't do the normal work of a lifted truck" Because I have towed my cousins ranger along with some other vehicles with mine as well as carried my snowmobile in the back of the bed and used it for many other reasons as well. We still are able to use them a trucks but giving them a lift does not make them better at what they do.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of lifted trucks unless they are done right. I've seen some pretty out there trucks that just wasn't for my liking. But for them it was. I'm not going to harass them on how badly I think their truck looks because it's what they like and you shouldn't be condemned on something that you put your time and money into to turn your vehicle into something as unique as yourself.

My street truck is at my perfect height so I'm not going to lower or raise it but I'm going to be putting on some sideskirts later in the future because I don't like the step bars on my truck which will make it look a tad lower or might not even do that. But it's something I want to do. I'm paying and driving the truck so I'm going to do to it as I please.

I lowered my truck for a couple reasons that have everything to do with it being a truck and used like a truck and a few that tender to the way that I use it...

I have lowered my truck 2/5 and I still use my truck to haul mulch, and other yard stuff...having it lowered makes it easier to load and unload stuff from the bed to the yard. its able to go up curbs to get into my yard.... I own a motorcycle and need a truck in order to transport it to different places... having it lowered enabled me to use a normal ramp... Have you ever tried putting a motorcycle into the bed of a truck that is lifted 6 inches? the ramp that you have to use is HUGE!!!!which makes it even harder for you to get a bike into the back of the truck..... I use my truck to haul a car hauling trailer to help haul my brothers show car to random events.... having it lowered with a stiffer suspension makes towing a lot more fun.... the truck doesn't get pushed around by the trailer as much and when having to make a quick lane change, it keeps the truck from flopping around all over the place... It also makes my truck look better than it did stock... that is an opinion, but I like the way it looks...

Last but not least.... after the suspension work that I have done to my truck... It can out handle most stock cars on the road that you can get for 30K.....

To me, It should be the other way around... why do you lift your truck??? Its impractical, causes your gas mileage to suffer, causes your truck to not be able to efficiently transfer the power of the motor to the ground due to the size of the tires, makes it top heavy so when you have to make a sharp turn at a higher rate of speed it makes it more susceptible to a roll over, It makes it difficult to load and unload supplies out of the back of the truck.... climbing in and out of the bed of the truck is much more of a chore than climbing in and out of a bed of a truck that is lowered.... When towing with a lifted vehicle, you have to buy drop down hitches in order to get the trailer to sit level where on a lowered vehicle you don't.... I could go on and on about why lifted trucks are impractical for street use...

Unless you live where you have to go through some trails to get to your house... or live where you ACTUALLY need that much ground clearance to get your truck into and out of places that require it, then there are a number of reasons why its more impractical to lift a truck than to lower one....

Sure a lowered truck in the country is a street queen, but just the same, a lifted truck in the city is really nothing more than a street queen. What is the value in lifting a truck if you have no place available to take it off road or don't drive where you need that much ground clearance?

I drive a truck because I'm too tall to fit comfortable in most vehicles. In both the Camaro and Mustang the sun visor is in my line of site, so I have to crouch down to see out the window. If tomorrow I could drive any vehicle I wanted, then tomorrow I would drive my truck.

I lowered my truck because my back was hurting from getting in and out, and since I lowered it last summer my back has been feeling great.

the SUN VISOR is in your line of sight? holy crap how tall are you? im 6'5" and i had an 89 firebird and a 96 trans am and i was sitting pretty low in both. pretty nice legroom in those cars. mustangs on the other hand, i rode in 2, a 95 and a 96 and i was crammed in the passenger side. the 96 was a manual and i have no clue how your knuckles survive the shift into 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

I'm 6'5" also. Maybe I need to keep my eye out for a 96 trans am.

Here is a painful ride in the country I took two years ago.

Wide Open

These cars are built for normal people of average height. My left leg took a serious beating in eight laps.

i have not lifted or lowered my truck bc 1. its 2wd and doesnt need a lift 2. i came from a 2003 focus ZX3 and i am over being low! lol

both trucks lifted and lowered look great.

I am 6'1" and in my moms '05 mustang the rear view mirror is right in the way of seeing cars at stop signs!

I'm 6'7". Dude i feel your guys pain. That was the first reason i loved ford trucks when i was young bc of the room they offer. I drove an 05 5spd mustang GT, didn't seem to be too overly cramped best i remember compared to the previouss gen. I was still cramped tho, bet it looked funny as hell too. And i drove an 03 GT 5spd. I could barely get the clutch in to take it down the road. My head was in the roof, i had to huntch under the folded up sun visor. It was very dangerous. My first car was an 88' IROC and once i was in the car(hard to get into and get leg under steering wheel) it wasn't to bad. But all cars are uncomfortable for me it seems thats why i'm strictly a pick up man now...haha....Fords have the most room too! Also had an Acura, with all the sets maxxed out backward/downwards it wasn't really that cramped at all, but its against my morals to ever by a foriegner car aggain.

This is a rreally old thread too.

Mixedbread: your truck is very sweet!

I can see a little bit of a drop giving it a sportier feel and stance, plus its easier to load the bed.

Its the trucks that are on the ground that are just dumb, you just castrated that truck IMO.

Depends what you like. Im a redneck and still plan on a dropped truck. So your excuse of being a redneck so you can't lower it is ****. I even live on 30 acres and have 20 head of cows. Just one truck lifted a touch and one lowered.
