Thanks BlueFlareside

I just bought out my 97' Lariat after a 3-year lease. This is one change I want to make now that the truck is "mine".

I noticed a few posts about this subject in other areas that said the swap out was not a big deal but you did need to make some modifications to the mounting brackets. Do the folks in this thread that have made the swap agree?

97CustomXLT could probably answer this since he has done it. Someone else posted this:

"It fits great but it takes just a bit of modifying the bolt plate of the expedition console. But when all is said and done it looks great and i feel as if i am in an expedition! Now all i need is the overhead console! Anywho, the whole job took me only @ an hour or so. it helps having a bandsaw handy or a dremmel tool because you will have to cut some metal but not much at all. the front brackets are no problem but the brackets at the back ( closest to the rear seat ) knock the stock f150 bolts that stick up. all you have to do is cut the metal where it hits - thats it ! the rest is cake."

I am curious to see what 97CustomXLT has to say.

Looks like you are about to make this switch yourself. I would love to hear how the total process of ordering from LWM and your removal / install is.

I will check the Charlotte NC area here and if I have no luck, I will contact Jamie at LWM. I would not think that the shipping could be all that expensive. Plus the time and money you could spend just looking for one makes the price a bargain in my book.

Keep us updated on your project if you don't mind.

Good luck,
CW

Cool

I am not sure what the shipping will be but it should not be more than $20.

I will let you know how the install goes. It does not sound very difficult and it will add a lot of usable storage space instead of having that huge dead area between the console and the dash.

97CustomXLT put a picture of his truck in the following post https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000261.html and it looks great.

Cool

Hey all,
Instalation was easy. Took maybe 30 minutes. I did not use the floor hardware that came from the Expy. Just installed the console with hardware that was already on the console, to the hardware that was already on my floor. Several bolts and screws and I was done.

I love it!

Thumbs up

Hello, This is Darrin @ LWM (Jaime's Boss). I would like to thank y'all for the interest in my products. I know I'm not supposed to put shameless advertising on this board, so I won't. However, we do have these consoles, as well as seats, wheels and tires, carpet, floor mats, and other take-out stuff. Don't hesitate to call us. (1-800-259-5842). BTW, the shipping for a console to Maine (the longest way I could find) would be $20. Thanks for all the interest...
Darrin

Thanks Darrin!

I ordered mine from Jamie on Wednesday (the one from Florida) and cannot wait to get it and install it. You are sure to get a lot of orders from the members of this site (thanks to 97CustomXLT, of course).

Hey folks. Just a little update. I ordered my expy center console last week. Should be here tomorrow or so. I was quoted a price of $50 plus shipping. I hope I wasn't quoted wrong and have to pay more. Still, at $89 it's not a bad deal. But, I was quoted $50. May have to check LWM out for other goodies.

red97,

I should have mine tomorrow also.

Did you order from LWM??? If it was LWM Jamie told me they were $89 and I checked my credit card and it was charged $100 ($11 for shipping).

I think someone misquoted you...either that or I want a refund of $40!

Maybe there not all the same price. Some could be in better condition or from a newer Expy. Remember these are takeoffs from a vehicle they are working on.

BlueFlareside,

Yes I only paid $50+$15 s.h. I did have to recover the arm rest part because of some punctures in the material though. All I did to install mine was take out the old console and used an inverted torx and took out the back two studs from the floor. I went to Ace Hardware and found two, I believe 12mm bolts, and bolted the rear Expy bracket down. Doing that I didn't have to cut any brackets. Then I mounted the front bracket to the front two studs. The console then just slid into place. Four smaller bolts and I was done. The only problem I find is that the armrests from my capt. chairs need to be taken off. I'm not sure if that's because I got a '99 console or not. The other thing is that the console doesn't sit all the way onto the floor in the front. May have to go in there and bend the bracket down or somthing. Other than that I love it. Now I just need to put my sound system in.

Wish I had read this post last week. Would have saved me $32,000.00 for a new Expy! Great job sharing the information, we appreciate it. Good luck to everyone on the mods.

Question

Red97,

Thanks for the update on how you did your install and the Capt. chairs armrest issue.

I sure do not want to part with those armrests.

Has anyone else with the Capt. chairs that has done this mod had this armrest issue?

Thanks for any input,
Topher
