Cool Manik or Westin..hmmm

Hey Everyone,

Ok, I have done the research on this board on which set of nerf bars to get and have decided on either westin or manik in powercoat black.

To those people that have either of these what were the pros and cons that you came across since owning them. Easy install, rusted easily etc..

Also what did you pay and from where did you get them from.

Many Thanks!!

I have the Manik step bars, I really like the style, and their solid. If I had one complaint it's the step area...the black plastic molding is a bit higher than the bar, and is sometimes a bit awkward to step on...add slush and ice in the winter.....but then again, I've never compared them to other steps either.

all in all I'm happy with mine, and the style is just a bit different than most of em out there so that's a plus.

I have the manik and the thing is great. Takes a little longer cleaning the front of the truck though. I have had no problem with rust. Here is a pic of mine.

oops.. just realized we were talking about running boards, not grille guards. Ditto for them, just no pics. (I'm still young enough to hop up in there, for now)

GIJoeCam,

I can hop up in the truck too. See the Lady is 5'7" and she hoes not like to "jump" into a truck, her mother is 5 foot and does not like to get into the truck. Also, when people are trying to get into the back of the truck it is a pain to get into.

Me on the other hand....I love the truck as is

PS- did those lights come with the grill guards?

Cool

Hey Pyro,

Thanks for the info. I think what it will come down to now is price. I really like both of them and have not heard a bad thing about either one. It seems that they are both really good products.

Thanks Very Much

no... the lights are 150 watt KC Daylighters. I had to modify a washer to be able to use them on the guard (just the way the KC's mount... long story) but they look and work great.

Thumbs up

The Westin's saved my butt a few times this last saturday. We had the bright idea to drive into the forrest looking for bigger and badder terrain. Something about fitting a large full size in between the trees is just wrong. I got hung up on top of a large fallen tree and the drivers nerf caught it both times (held up the truck too!) The bar got dinged up, sure, but compared to what could have happened, I'm quite happy with them. And now the bars have battle scars to go along with the truck.

S.

I like my Westin Black step bars.
Mounted in 20 minutes (after I figured out the dumba$$ braces).
Although, they are starting to drip rusty water stains out of them. Might have to under coat them or something. They are nice though.

I got the black Westins for my SuperCrew.
I've been very pleased with them thus far.

Ordered mine online from www.atlantaauto.com
for 199.95 delivered. Also, you get a rebate from Westin if you purchase by 5/31.
Check out www.westinautomotive.com for details.

Atlantaauto.com is great. Brian from atlantaauto.com answered all my questions via email and was very quick to respond. I ordered thru his website late Monday night.
I recevied an email Tuesday morning indicating that they received my order and that I would have them on Thursday. I received the nerf bars on Thursday as promised.

I did not recieve an invoice in the original shipment, which is needed for the rebate. I emailed Brian Friday morning asking for the invoice, he apologized for not including it in the initial shipment and said he would get it out ASAP. I had the invoice the next day!!

In this day and age of poor customer service and broken promises, it is refreshing to deal with a company that has not forgotten about the customer.
