Cool Replacement air dam / lower valance

Found this air dam @ Stillen for $200 looks like Lightning but is the lower section only no full replacement cap. I plan to have mine painted Oxford White. According to Stillen they make this but Street Scene will be selling them also I think mabe it's the other way around but I really don't care it gives my truck the look I wanted.

That would be cool if there were a billet grill for that opening also.

There is a Billet Grill for it, and I think it might be the same as the L.

Matt,

I am considering doing the same thing on my '98 X by replacing the bumper with the 99+. My question to you is are you going to use the current foglight wiring to power the foglights of the new PIAA airdam? I can't wait to see a pic of your new airdam. Thanks!

It is not recommended that you use the stock fog wiring for powering aftermarket lights, mainly because the stock fog lights are about 35 watts, and the lowest aftermarkets you will find are 55... it'll fry the wires BUT I am going to hook up the outside set of fog lights to the existing fog light switch so I'll still be able to turn on the 520 fog's the stock way instead of the PIAA switch (which is cool but I'd like to use the existing switch whenever possible, its already gone through the firewall! ), here's how I'll accomplish that...

You'd still have to use the PIAA harness and relay, then take the wire the goes from the relay to the switch (coming out of the relay in one direction you'd have the ground, then the wire going to the switch, then the wires going to the lights) and splice it into the fog factory fog light wiring. This way, it's still receiving the correct amount of power, still using the PIAA relay so you don't have to worry about frying any wiring, but just receiving the signal to be turned off or on from the main fog light switch! The only downside to this of course is that you couldn't have your brights and your fogs on at the same time, otherwise it would save bunches of time!

mattbert,

What ever happened to your group buy on PIAA lights. I'm not too happy with the lights in my new air dam, 55 watt but the lenses suck. I am thinking about the 510's because the openings are only 4-3/4 inches. Haven't decided whether to go driving lights or Ion fog. I live south of Los Angeles so the fogs make more sense but...

Matt,

Duh, I should have thought of that difference in the wattage, but I will probably use your advice about the using the existing switch. I already have a set of 520 on the Manik grill guard so losing the other set when the Hi's are on will not be an issue.

Make sure to post pics when your done! Thanks!

E-mail me at matt@explorerforum.com, it's still going on and I could probably get them to you within a few days if you wanted. They'd be right around $170-175 as I recall... Way2big, don't worry I'll post pics .

Jim,
Your air dam looks great. Does it hang lower that the stock air dam? I lowered my SuperCrew 2" in the front and want to make sure I won't take it out in a parking lot. Is there a matching grill inset available?
