Cool Running Boards

Where is the best place to buy them?
Are they difficult to install?
What are the best type to get?
I know this is somewhat of a personal taste issue.
I just want ot get a few ideas.

I put Ford boards on my truck. No drilling! All holes matched-up. The instructions are pictures without words. Pay attention to details - the clip-on nuts install either direction, but only one is correct and they are a pain to remove to reposition.
For pics, follow the link in my signature...
Good Luck

I had full length, wheel well to wheel well metal (in black) running boards installed by a place called Quality Bumper in Tucson Arizona. They are frame mounted and have held me and another person at the same time with no sag.

I didn't think I'd want running boards but, now I do. What a mistake. If I had ordered them with the truck they would have been $213 installed. Now, they will be $418 and I have to install them or pay more. The boards I want to get are the molded ones in the matching color. I know this doesn't help your question but, perhaps someone else may benefit from my shortsightedness.

54 do you like mine? No one else has them. I had a body shop paint them and install them a month later to let the paint cure. These also left room to install the polished steel fenderwell moldings. Pics of Fenderwell moldings will be "up" soon.

Lund Fastback, Lighted visor, Runninng Boards, Crome Taillight covers, Polished Steel Fenderwell Moldings, Smoked Bug and Rain guards, Shelf-it, Carpet dash cover, Red Wings license plate in front, Red Wings license plate frame in back, Little Detroit Viper hanging from mirror, Oh yeah, and one "Blacked-out" grill.
Gonna get my Bed rails back on, Finally!
Can't find the right Polished steel design, so once I modify the powercoated ones, I will paint them.
Q: Black or Blue?

I too am shopping for boards. My research has lead me to 3 brands that have very simple black plastic or abs over aluminum extrusion. The compaines are Penda (Tri-Step), Cord and Quantum. They vary from 280 for the Penda to 500 for the Cord. The cord looks just like the generics ones you often see on Expeditions. The Penda seems to look like the simple flat black jobs on the Super Duty pictured in the foldout SD brochure. The later style is what I prefer. But the local dealer "Ultimate Truck" didn't have any in stock and the picture was very fuzzy. If you are looking for paint to match types check Lund. Lund and Penda have decent web sites. Can find one for Quantum and Cord was too expensive to care. Hope that helps.

Thumbs up

If you want fiberglass boards I would reccomend Starboards. I put them on my 99 SC Flareside and they look great. If there is a Starboards dealer near you they will install them. It only took them 30 min. to install mine. Check out www.starboards.com

After looking around a bit I think I'm going to go with the tubular ones or the factory anybody know where to get the best prices on these.
If they are too expensive I might go with the diamond plate.
Do you guys think the diamond plate style are a little dated?
I'm trying to stay under $200
Andthensometoo, I like your running boards but that style seems to be pretty expensive around here.

I had deflecta-shield (sp?) on my 94 Bronco EB. They matched the color perfectly. They were easy to install and the fit and finish was top notch. I don't know what they have for the newer trucks, but I know they looked like facory on my Bronco.

Good luck!
