Thanks,Sun,I will continue trying to work a lead through firewall. I may try using a sharp screwdriver or ice pick so i can poke a hole through the carpet.

haha nice Msall...definitely DIY.

John, you should be able to pull the carpet back enough so that you can avoid cutting holes in it.

Are you going through with the existing wires, or towards the outside of the grommet? I tried for about 45 minutes to get a wire through from the outside in, got past the rubber part on the battery side, but couldn't get through the inside? Feels like maybe there is a second grommet or something in there? How are you getting at this from the inside? I can barely get my hand up there because of the ventilation fan, etc. Any help wouldd be appreciated. Thanks!

Would love to see a photo of this from the inside.

Unfortunately I dont have any pics of something like that...i drilled my own hole using a step bit and a plastic grommet to avoid the sharp metal edge from rubbing the insulation.

Ive dont it both ways where I pass the power wire through the center of the grommet were the existing wires are, and to the side. When I go to the side I usually make a cut in the rubber to push the cable into to avoid the potential for the metal to rub through the insulation. I also use split loom wrapped around the power wire from the battery to about 5 or 6 inches inside the vehicle for the same reason.

Unless you take the entire right assembly apart on the inside there's no way you're going to get a decent picture of it.

Here it is from the outside though, bottom of camera (phone) is right above the battery, very left corner of the truck. I used a utility knife to cut a slit, then used a gigantic flathead screwdriver to puncture a hole through to the cab. I taped (electrical) a smaller screwdriver to the 4awg wire and punched it through, slid the screwdriver out and pulled the wire through!

I tried for about another hour on that grommet (probably about 2 hours total). Finally gave up and started looking for other ways, crawled under the truck, found a grommet that goes into the space under the passenger kick plate that looks like it was made for a power wire. Ran the wire down behind the battery, on top of the plastic cover inside the wheel well, and into this grommet in about 5 minutes total. I highly recomend going this route. Took me longer to put the battery back after attempting to get through the grommet than it did to run the wire down behind the wheel well!

SurfHawk, I gotta ask. You got any pictures? I would like to see where you are at. I am going to go outside now and see if I can find this grommet. Only problem is that it is 32degrees out with plenty of wind and I hate the cold.

Here's a shot from under the truck. You just sent the wire down behind the battery and it will come out right behind the tire. This is the first grommet that you come to. Inside just pull up the cover from the door channel, and the grommet is right under the tray of wires. Real easy, just the way I need it

Yes I need to do that and actually need to extend it up behind the wheel well also. Ran short when I was finishing up and the weather has been pure c**p ever since! This was the first time I crawled under there since I did the install.
