Power wire for amp.
Power wire for amp.
Im installing my subs and amp in a 05 supercrew and Im having a problem finding the most convienent spot to get the power cable to the battery. I heard of a friend fishing it through under the dash along the fender on the passenger side, but he also said it took a long time to do and I can't seem to find that spot that he came across. So I guess now what I'm asking is if there is anyone that knows of a really easy solution or the best spot to drill into the engine firewall that would be great.
WHat size wire are you running?
Here is my build thread for my 2008 Supercrew.

Since I was running 1/0 ga, I went under the truck.

i went threw the grommet right behind the brake pedal and down the side under the sill plates on drivers side with 1/0 gage was easy to do and fit just fine.

I kinda did the opposite of what most do in that I ran the power down the passenger side and the RCA down the driver side.
4 gauge power wire down behind the battery and down the inside of the frame rail all the way to the back corner of the bed where there is a grommet that is the perfect size for a 4 gauge. If you have 8 gauge you will have no problems getting it through this grommet. Just get under there and look.
I wanted to keep it on the passenger side myself. I just didn't wnat to waste a good 5-7 feet of wire just to get it to the driver side and then go through the firewall. It will of course work perfect either way, just my preference.

There is also a grommet behind the battery tray on the firewall. I use a 4 ga distribution block screwed to the rear of the batter tray with 4 8 ga. feeds. One was used for the amp and the others are going to be used for other electrical components that are going under the hood. I then fed an 8 ga. wire from the distribution block through a 40 amp in-line fuse and then the wire is routed through the firewall grommet and runs down the passenger side to the rear cab to the amp on the rear panel on the passenger side. There is a good place for a ground near the fuse panel where it is grounded. If you don't have a large amp that will call for larger gauge wire, this is another option.
I used 4awg
I do not know if I would have put 1/0 inside...but if it fit ....kudos to you. I had trouble enough cramming the 4awg in the door sill.
thanks for everyones input i actually found a grommet on the passenger floorboard ran under and up through the floor to the rear seat. seemed easy enough i tried it out in the daylight this time.
There is a grommet right behind the battery into the cab. Pulling the battery makes it a lot easier to access, and you dont need to run your wire across the engine bay.
Yep, that will work too. You do in fact have to pull the battery unless you have gotten back there before and you have educated fingers....
Just as a piece of information....
My friends and I have 2008 F150. As stated above, I ran mine under the truck in caraflex. But he was successful at running his 1/0 ga along the passenger side in the OEM sill (tray?) area. No issues and sills went back in place no probelm. His RCAs are running down the middle of the truck.
