AMI Billet Door Handles

Any of you ever install these solid aluminum handles? If so, how do you like them? My stock black ones are fading bad. I cringe every time I see them in the 90+ degree heat. I was thinking PTM, but then I still have a plastic handle at the end of the day.

If I do PTM, should I go to the dealer and buy all new Lariat handles, or can the stock ones be sanded smooth? I think I will do all three handles and my mirrors. I found a shop that will do the PTM for less than the billet handles cost. I think painted handles look more appropriate on an FX4 also.

Just sand your stock bezels smooth and then have them primed/painted. The Lariats didn't have PTM bezels anyway that I know of, just handles with PTM or chrome. I thought it was just the Limited/HD editions that got painted bezels.

x2. I removed, and sanded my plastic stuff myself with numerous grit levels, and had the dealership paint them ( good rep with body shop manager, Ford quality orange peeled paint for cheap! ). Handles and mirrors look great.

If you have a second vehicle to drive for a few days, and the time to remove and sand these parts, its very well worth it.

The 2009+ Lariats come standard with paint matched handles and mirror caps. 04/'08 body style it was limited to 2007 & 2008 only, FX4 Luxury, FX2, King Ranch Harley Davidson, and Lariat Limited.

I've got a set of Scab Lariat handles if your interested (shoot me a PM). They were removed from my truck with 11k miles and have just been sittin in a box for a few years now. I replaced them with a set of new smooth Harley handles that i had PTM'd by Ford.

But whatever you do, PTM the entire handle, No chrome pull.. Imo, Your truck would look a ton better solid PTM. Gl.

Yeah. I will definitely paint the entire handle. Thanks for the offer. . . . I will seriously consider it.

I did not do the AMI handles, I did another brand, in chrome. Probably the best "custom" mod I have, and have been very pleased with. I will admit I broke one handle figuring out how to remove the handle pulls, but Worth it in the end for me. I was going to do PTM pulls or stick on chrome pulls but decided to do this mod. In the end, anything looks better then the faded plastic!

Different styles to choose from too.
