Edge Evo Settings

I just received my Edge Evo in the mail today. I am so excited to use this thing. But my dilemma is that I am not sure what settings to change to improve my truck. I was planning on using L3 tuning, but as far as everything else goes I am clueless. Can some of you that have the Evo post the settings that you use? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Red the instructions. If you plan top run level 3 make sure you have a tank full of super. I personally ran level 1 for a day to feel the tranny, then level 2 is my favorite so I left it there. I ran 2 tanks of level 3 and was not overly impressed, so back to level 2 for me.

Could you use level 3 with 87 or 89 and adjust the timing down for each octane below 91? I'm new to this programmer thing too.....

If you're running 91, then leave the timing at default. If you run 93, then bump the timing +1.00. Later, you might try +1.25. I left normal **** poits at default.

WOT Fuel= +1.5
WOT Shift= 5250, 5250, 4800
Max RPM= 5650
Max Speed= 110
Shift Pressure= I like them pretty hard, +12,+12, +9
Set the tires and gears to what you have

I ran Level 3 nearly all the time as Level 2 had good low end but faded on the highway and freeway where I do a lot of driving.

All of this also qualifies for a Gryphon with canned tunes right? I have mine on level 3 and i'm on my 2nd tank of 93, but I only adjusted the rpm shifts ( 5600 for 1-2, 2-3, 5000 for 3-4 ) and bumped my govener to 130mph. Should I do all of the above stated about the timing and such?

Yes, the canned tunes are the same. That is higher rpms than I like to go, but if your truck is not working too hard, ok. I think you get diminishing returns by staying in a gear too long with the stock cams, but if yours is still pulling then it should be fine.

On the timing, not sure what you are asking, but the canned level 3 is programmed for 91 octane. If you run something other than 91, you adjust .5 for each octane. So, for 93, you would do a +1.00. I actually ran +1.5 some of the time, before I got the custom tunes.

I was too afraid to mess with RPM stuff and timing. I too bumped my speed limiter up to 125 and man will the truck get there and love it...not condoning it but I sure would like to see how my driveshaft is doing when I had the cruise set at 115 for a while. Just be careful.

If you are running Level 3 and 93 octane, you are most likely running rich.

Ok. I believe I will lower the rpms because on a couple WOT pulls it hits the engine limiter which isn't a good sound to hear.

What I was asking is do I have to up the octane setting, which apparently I should since you mentioned each higher octane needs up by .5 Am I at any risk of it being default?

I still never topped my truck out, I just upped the speed limiter to be able to speed if I needed to ( some type of emergency, or to kill a Chevy ) and cause I want to try the 1/4 mile run test sometime on the highway and I have a feeling I could probably hit higher than 100 on it but no sure.

There you go trying to circumvent the language filter again

BTW, when I was running 94 octane I had the timing bumped to +3 and no problems. I've switched back to level 2 now with half a tank of 94 and half of 87 so I dropped the timing back down to +1.5 until I clear this tank. I may try Shell V-Power for my next tank, which is 91 but is supposed to be ethanol free. Right now on level 2 my mileage seems to be the best I've had yet.

Damn! I really need to look at my typing!

I think we are saying the same thing. Level 3 is progarmmed internally for 91. If you run a higher octane, you need to bump the timing.

Also, it's important to have a spread of at least 400 between your highest shift point and your max rpms. So if you shift at 5250, your max should be set at 5650. I bet what was happiening with a shift point of 5600, you were maxing the engine out and causing the shift to hang.

Ok. Thanks man. I just re-adjusted my timing today, and my rpm shifts are 5100 for the 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 is set at 4800. The rev limit is now set at 5200, so should I re-adjust it back to 5600? or am I fine as is.

Your rev limiter is not ok at 5200. It needs 400 above your highest shift point, which is 5100. So, it needs 5500. The rev limiter is there to keep you from blowing the engine if you are WOT and the transmission blows. The engine would wind up till it could blow, too.

When a shift is taking place, that split second when the tranny is between gears is critical. It's similar to being in neutral, very briefly. The engine needs the 400 additional rpms as a rev gap.
