Windshield Wiper Shaft Loose

I just noticed the passenger's windshield wiper shaft is loose (driver's side is tight). I'll be taking it to the dealer for repair, but I was wondering if anybody knew how hard it is to get to the windshield wiper drive to find the problem?

You mean the arm splines onto the motor assembly is loose?

That's just a single nut under the cover on the end of the arm

No, the shaft that comes through the cowl will move side to side. Only on the passenger's side, the driver's side is tight

You'd have to pull the wiper arms and cowl to access it. Not a very complicated job just yo see what's going on under there.

I wonder if it's related to my wiper symptoms

Thank you for the information! I didn't have any strange noises when they were running. I was concerned about something coming loose, so I took it by the dealer yesterday to take the wiper blade & arm off until they can fix the problem. I'm tied up next week, but have an appointment first thing Monday, 8/3/15 to take it in to the dealer.

I'm sure your dealer will take great care of you, Takeda! If you'd like me to loop in your regional customer service manager, just PM me your details and I'll make it happen. When writing, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

From your description, it sounds like the wiper motor was not mounted properly in the truck (missing screws or bolts?). Is that your take on it? I'd think that would be an easy fix.
