5.0 and Towing ?
I've got the 5.0 and work in the woods where I idle around gaining and losing elevation quite regularly. I am averaging on the dash 16.5 mpg with the 255-80/17 tires. A guy that I know in a similar woods role has a similar pickup but with the EB and he is showing 14.5 mpg on his dash readout. He is an older guy and likely has a smaller foot than I do.
Take it for what it's worth I suppose.

I just ordered a 2015 Platinum and chose the 5.0L over the 3.5L Ecoboost. The main reason, I don't know what the longevity of a forced induction motor will be with a 10.0:1 compression ratio. I noted that the 5.0L in the Mustang develops 435HP on premium fuel, and the compression ratio raised from 10.5:1 to 11:0:1. I wonder how much more power the 5.0L in the F-150 could get if the PCM timing tables were changed to run on premium fuel:

For what it's worth, a friend of mine just traded in his 2012 EB with 230,000 or so on the completely factory engine.
Sure they can but that's a $16,000 race engine that is using bigger cams than the truck engine. That engine makes its peak power even higher in the RPMs than the 5.0 already does. In something as heavy as a Supercrew F150 that results in being a slug off the line until those cams get into their own. To make 500 from the truck 5.0 you will have to add a supercharger or similar mods as that race engine. Neither is anywhere close to cheap.

Thank you for the information!
Who has towed what with a 4x4 5.0 and how did it do. And to open a can of worms. Please no war, Has anyone towed the same with an 3.5 eco then a 5.0 and a comparison. My 13 eco tows our 24 foot loaded toy hauler great but ,how would a 5.0 compare. We are looking at a 2015 5.0 So, how does a 5.0 tow and what have you towed?
Stock 2018F-150
i routinely pull my 20’ tilt trailer that is around 4K pounds, with 2-4K of metal on it. No issues.
towed my buddies international scout with a power stroke once 500 miles with zero issues. I estimate the weight was around 12k.
