Manual Climate Control with an Automatic Blower Control Module

My 2013 F150 has manual climate control. The blower motor resistor stopped working and I went to replace only to find that it was the resistor for an automatic climate control and not the flat blade that should go to a manual climate control.

I replaced it with another automatic control module and now there is a delay whenever I adjust the fan speed and at high speed it blows way faster than it ever did before. Is it common to have the automatic control module in a manual climate truck? I want it to work like it used to and adjust instantly when I turn the ****.

Then you should probably install the correct blower speed control module.

Yeah tried one of those, wrong part. The part that came off it is the bigger one. Makes no sense since I have manual controls.

Yeah, that's what I'd also have to say.

I do know that for the 2015 MY and newer, the manual system did away with the resistor module and used the variable speed module instead.

Good mystery. When you figure it out, let us know.

I did some looking and found some instances where this is the case. Basically some manual control systems used the same module as the automatic system. Only difference being the cluster on the dash.

It seems to work but the new one sort of "ramps up" rather than switching instantly like the old one did. There's also a short delay when I start the truck before it starts blowing and it seems to blow harder now than it did before.

If I get too irritated with it I'll probably get the OEM and see if that acts any different.

You bought an aftermarket module? That's probably why. Here's the genuine one:

Does your climate control module's blower speed switch have four or seven positions? With or without the 4.2" display?
