How do you guys like your 2014 trucks?
#21
Two friends of mine just traded in their 2012's within the last couple weeks as their cab corners were rusted. My 2007 had 0 corner rust. It was rarely driven in the winter if I did I would try to wash the salt off ASAP.
Im hoping im fine with my 2014 but I wondering if they made any attempt to solve this issue? Also, is there any thing I should do or look out for now? Is is true water is getting in from the 3rd brake light?
Thanks for any help.

mgp, I have no rust in my 2014 truck, but the roads are not salted where I live in Arizona.
And, I THOUGHT the leaks at the third brake light had been corrected. I know I have not had any leakage there, and have had the truck out in some heavy rain and certainly don't use any care with water spray when I wash it.

5.0's do have issues with machining on one of the cylinders. Seem to affect 11-12 but there's been a few reported 13s as well. Requires a new long block typically. Starts a tick in the bottom end. Same issue with the Mustang 5.0 as well.
I don't know how widespread it actually is. Hard to tell as most people don't come on the internet to brag about their engine that works, they just come to talk about them when they break.
Here's the 30-page thread on FTE:
