That's exactly the link I posted.

Just to make sure, next time you go out with your rig and passengers, swing by a scale that can give you the weights of each axle individually. Add the front and rear truck axle weights, they should not exceed 7200# and neither axle weight should exceed the axle rating (front and rear GAWR, on the door sticker). You won't be over your tow rating or GCWR.

Yes, I am a fan of the weight scales and they are easy to access around here and home and will check. I weighed the truck on my last trip to Calgary. It was bang on 3100kg's (6834lbs). That was 3/4 tank of fuel, me, My sled (roughly 450lbs) and some cargo/gear. I would think that would put my truck pretty close to 6000# with just a full tank and nothing in it (no driver). Pretty capable for a half ton when you think about it. If I remember correctly my 2000 F150 Scab 4x4 was rated to only pull 6500#'s. Can't remember payload (didn't really care as it was a step-side and couldn't haul squat).

If for whatever reason I'm within 15% of the max, I'll probably just borrow the diesel. No need to be unsafe.

You will be safe up to the max GVWR (7200#) and max GAWR (front and rear). The EB will pull it almost like it isn't back there.

At 6000# with no pax or gear, you will probably be over GVWR with that trailer, even if you put all the gear in the trailer. You only have 1200# to play with for tongue weight and pax.
