Maybe a dumb question about HID conversions

I've read all the headlight posts and know "the best" option is to go with HID projectors "from a reliable company". My dumb question is what exactly do we mean by projectors, whole new headlight assembly? Are there reliable companies that take your old ones (maybe as a core?) and retro fit them or do you just buy new ones out right. What are some "reliable" companies others have used and recommend?

Thanks.

Yes you can give them your stock housing they will then retro them. Or you can buy the headlight already retro'ed from them.
Examples are;
Lightworks
Projectoretrofits.com( aka tuxedoblack11 from here)

And a list here

There are those few companies, and also a good amount of members on here that will do it "on the side." MarkLT and Saleen#### do them.

Projectors are the metal and glass(?) "eyes" that the HID light bulb goes into. That might not make sense, sorry haha

If your gonna spend the money, get the factory HID's. You can get them from www.raptorretrofit.com

For the kind of money it costs to do a HID retrofit correctly, I would rather have factory sealed housings than some set that has been hacked up.

Yes you could do that, but at $1200 you could do a full retro that will beat those lights and have money left over.

Then you can either do a full retro yourself or have someone do it, or just order the 2013 OEM projectors and the wiring harness from TRS and it will be PNP but alot more expensive.
