The tick in mine is engine speed related. So it sounds like you are having a different issue.

Also I can't hear mine under the hood. All I hear is injectors ticking outside or under the hood. I heard mine in the cab and it sounded like it was coming from the passenger side.

The head they replaced seems to have taken care of it. No ticking thank goodness. My build date was 1/11 and my truck is #1383 for those who asked. Thanks.

Lifter noise on the 6.2l motor

[QUOTE=05SDScrew;5036581]I just bought a 2011 Limited with a 6.2 in it and am wondering if anyone else can chime in with their experience. Got it home and that week noticed a slight tapping/tick that is engine speed related coming from the passenger side. took it to a Ford dealer and they diagnosed it as needing the tappets replaced on the passenger side bank. This was done under warranty, 50000 miles.
Started it up and it sounded fine, 10-15 miles from the dealership when it reached full operating temp the ticking sound was back in full effect from the passenger side. Turned around and had the tech listen to it, and he said it is injectors ticking and is normal.
Next day after the truck had sat for about a full day I went out and started it with the remote start and it rattled like it was oil starved for about 10-15 seconds then smoothed out. It has now done that twice, just not as long the other time.
I am dropping it off at another dealer this weekend to see what they think but I can't believe that I would be able to hear injectors ticking while going down the road?! Anyone else with a 6.2 have any experience with this? I have been reading through the Raptor forums and have seen some similar issues but no real solutions or diagnosis.[/Q

6.2 lifter noise

My 2014 6.2 has always had a short lifter tick since new upon startup. Also after warm up and letting it sit for a hour or two. It now has over 51,000 miles on it last week on a warm start it was ticking for a longer time which wasn't "normal " I have always kept fresh oil and a premium filter in this truck. I went to the local parts store bought some concentrated Rislone, put it in the crankcase took it out for a long drive and have not had any lifter noise since. Cold or warm startup! It will be due for an oil change in about 1500 miles. My change interval is usually around 5000 miles. 5w30 synthetic Pennzoil with a K&N filter

*HEADS-UP* on your choice of oil filter ... In addition to much less $$$$$, the OEM Motorcraft oil filter is a higher quality and a MUCH more betterer choice.

Thank you for the information, K&N has a few different filters the one you sent a picture of does not look anything like the one pictured. The "Performance Gold" filter when cut apart looks much different on the inside. I also use a filter magnet on my oil filters. My previous truck a 2003 Ford Ranger had 315,000 miles on it with no motor or transmission work! I figured possibly some engine condensation quag from lower miles driven per day could have blocked a lifter journal during the winter ??
