Hey guys, my 2013 FX4 didn't come with puddle lights but it looks like it does have the opening underneath the mirrors covered with a plastic delete. I'm wondering if it's possible to buy the lights from Ford and how hard would they be to wire up?

 

I would like to have them to. but I have been thinking about putting down some led rope lights under my doors and wiring them to turn on when I open the door. I think that they will be brighter and look pretty cool.

I used some flush mount LED's from Oznium.com that worked very well. They make them with a black or silver case, and multiple color leds. I just drilled a hole in the plastic blank that takes the place of the factory puddle lamp and installed the LED assembly in the hole. The LED housing is threaded with a backing ring which gives the install a very fit and finished look.

 

Cool, good idea. Do you remember which wires you had to tap from the signal light on the mirror?

Hey everyone. Am new I this site and thread. I am doing this mod in conjunction with adding power fold mirrors. I had to buy all new mirrors and they came with the puddle lamps. Problem is I have an 04 and the harness does not have the violet wire for the interior lamps. Any suggestions on how/where to tap into this circuit?

 

Violet is correct, feed back thru door harness and splice (butt splice, marette) before multipin connector. Not sure about 2013s, especially if its FX you probably already have a wire in the mirror body pre-run for it.
