My father raised me to be a ford truck guy, well my 09 supercrew backdoor broke and when I got it apart it was full of cheap *** plastic ****.guess I gotta buy a 40 year old truck to get quality
I'll take an '09 for longevity over a '69 any day.
Remember, that '69 wouldn't even have back doors to break! And, even if it did, it would have manual locks, and nothing fancy. When you've got more pieces, the chances of something breaking goes up. Crap happens, get over it!

Can't say I've seen too many "rear doors that are broken" around here or other F150 forums. Sounds like a one-off problem that you experienced. As fordman said, I'd run 09 quality over the 40 yo any day. Pretty sure you couldn't idle all day long, pull long grades hammered down with a/c on or pull the loads of today's trucks without being overheated on the side of the freeway. But, you know those plastic door internals are a deal breaker

All the plastics in our modern trucks are a result of the CAFE standards imposed upon the auto makers . Get use to it , as stated above .Unless you want to drive a classic as I do ,which does not break down on the freeway, it is the new norm . Just wait a few years , you will be even less satisfied !
My Dad bought a 1978 Bronco new. In the first 6 months, it spent about 15 weeks at the dealer. Engine leaked oil, front axle had to be replaced, rear gate was replaced, passenger seat was replaced, rear brakes were worked on three times. My uncle had a 1979 F250, same story. The 400M engine needed an overhaul at 50k miles too.
Yup, I'd LOVE to go back to those quality days at Ford. No cheap plastic. Just cheap metal.

I remember the days of the good old vehicles. Remember when you walked through the parking lots and had to step around the large thick deposits of grease and oil? If you didn't watch your step it would get all over your shoes. I open the hood of my 2004 5.4 with 133k miles and it does not leak a drop anywhere. I think there has been a vast improvement in our trucks over the years, although there maybe less metal.

. they slam the door to where the windows rattle.. Happened on my 03 Kr and the door rattled ever since..
