Unhappy 2012 Ecoboost Supercrew trans/engine issue

First let me apologize if others have posted on this. I tried searching and couldn't find anything on the issues the truck is having. Plus, I wanted to put it all together in hopes that someone can help.
So, I bought a 2012 F150 Supercrew Platinum with Ecoboost. I was kinda leary because I don't like turbo lag, but figured a little more hp and more torque AND better mileage... why not?
I expected some turbo lag, but I didn't expect it to fall on it's face when you put it to the floor. It happens from a dead stop and at speed. So, I read some of the post here and it said it acts better if you give it 3/4 throttle and ease the rest of the way into it. It does act better. I live in a place with traffic congestion. A lot of times you have to jump out on a busy road when people are doing 60 and steady traffic streaming. Those are the times when you need to nail it to get out in traffic. I thought I just needed to get use to it.
Took a trip from Northern VA up to Morgantown, WV to drop my daughter off at school. Just had the back of the cab and the bed loaded... not much stuff. Going up the mountains, the truck feels like the transmission has a shudder OR it feels like the engine has a steady missfire. Similiar in my opinion. Figured it was because of the weight, but coming home empty, it did the same thing. Because it was annoying, I kept the transmission in a lower gear to get the rpms up. Should state when I felt the shudder, it was a steady pace and around 1800 rpm. When I downshifted and brought the rpm up to around 2100/2200, it ran fine.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue or opinions/ideas?

Also, had an issue when I was running about 65mph (in a 70mph zone) because of a car poking along in the left lane. A truck was in the right lane ahead, so I wanted to pull over in the right lane to get around the car before we got to the truck. So, I nailed it doing 65mph and the truck fell on it's face! Held it to the floor for probably 2 or 3 seconds waiting for it to take off. Looked at the gear indicator and it said it had dropped into 3rd gear, looked at tach and it was up over 6000. It was an instant between seeing it in 3rd gear, seeing the rpms up and I let off the gas. I am thinking that it dropped down to far in low gear, hit the rev limiter and stayed there.
Two questions, why would it drop that low if the rpm's were going to be that high? And, if it was hitting the rev limiter, why did it not shift in 4th? At that time, I was just in drive.....
Not trying to rag on the truck, but I do expect a truck to go when I ask it and shift when it's suppose to.
Thanks in advance for replies...

Take it back to the dealer, express your concerns, and see if there are any software updates for the engine and transmission.

Take it to dealer. I was in North Iowa yesterday, with my 2012, and on a long stretch of 2 lane I nailed it WOT for the first time since owning it. It shot from 55 to 100 in a heartbeat, completely impressed. Yours is ill, take it to the doctor.

My dads 2012 super crew Eboost 4x4 has 17k on it and he has had zero issues and has pulled 22mpg on long trips.

His truck plain flat hauls but. You put the throttle down and it just goes. Now there is the natural lag from the Fly by wire system that is programed in, but i dont notice any turbo lag.

Thanks for the replies. Just wanted to make sure others didn't have this problem. To the dealer I go!
Always scary to hear what the dealer comes back with. "no problem found" or "must be the way your driving it".

Probably also explains why the gas mileage is so bad.... I know, you floor it and it gulps a gallon...
About a week after I got it, I was bored one night and decided to take it out on the highway just to enjoy it, listen to music, etc. I was on Rte 66 which is a pretty flat road. Reset the trip odometer(stats) as I got on the highway. I was runnnig 65-70 for about 40 miles out, turned around and 40 miles back. The trip odometer said it was getting 17.9mpg. Around town, I will fill up the tank, reset the odometer and then drive easy, the best it will get is 14.8 mpg.
I guess that kinda matches up with not running right and not getting good mileage. Just hope it's an easy fix for them.

thanks everyone!

The probabilities are high the dealer will throw a plug and maybe a coil at one of the cylinders. It'll fix it for a while as this is one of the gremlins that the EB is prone to, a miss that never seems to go away along with lousy fuel mileage while this is happening. Hopefully, they can fix yours but I wouldn't hold my breath. This is a common issue with the EB that the factory techs don't seem to be able to find the right fix for.....yet. But they are working on it as it is a known issue.

The hesitation is well known. My 2011 does it too. No fix yet.

From what I've read Ford is aware of a problem with the intercooler causing condensation during long highway driving (ie cruise set at constant mileage) When the gas is nailed (for passing, towing, etc) the water is drawn into the engine under boost. Something about water; it doesn't burn well. There is a TSB out there somewhere (do a google search) where they block off part of the intercooler with a shield to help with condensation. However, reports on many Ford truck sites say this "fix" is not a fix and that Ford is still working on this problem. Good luck and get your truck to the dealer.

There is a huge thread on this and several other known issues that have no resolution over on f150forum too. Makes me glad I went with the coyote.

I totally regret buying my f150 considering I am going to arbitration soon on a vibration issue and this hesitation issue.

what seems odd about all this, is that relatively few trucks seem impacted, but the ones that are having problems, Ford just can't seem to debug the issue. This is not some super complicated high tech system here... there has to be engineering expertise at Ford that can figure the root cause and thereafter find a workaround.

Well it's not normal that's for sure. When I jump on the throttle this truck goes like stink. No real hesitation, the biggest thing is waiting for the transmission to change, but it's not falling on its face. Get it checked out, could be a few different things.

01SCREW150- I just had the same issues with my truck on a trip from WV just below Morantown to upstate Ohio. Took it to work with me to the dealer I work for. There is a TSB for a reprogram. What is going on is when at highway speeds, the transmission tends to not downshift properly, therefore it makes you think its having turbo lag. They reprogramed mine, no issues now. If you have any questions about this, or if your local dealer acts like they have no clue of the TSB, let me know. I believe it is TSB# 12-6-4. Depending on what codes come up in your truck, they may install a shield on your CAC. Hope this helps, I know it helped mine.
