2013 F-150 unveiled!
So far I'm understanding that base models come with halogen projectors, and upper models (Lariat, Platinum) come with HIDs?
Either way, those are most likely 35W Philips 85122+ bulbs sitting behind a fluted E55 projector.
The housings themselves look to use the same surrounding parts, so I assume they will bolt up no problem. What everyone's problem with this swap is going to be is power delivery. I'd bet a quarter that Ford synced the HIDs to a Can-Bus system housed within the PCM, instead of a traditional switch->harness->ballast->bulb system. So don't be surprised if you have to go to Ford for a PCM flash or even worse: get a PCM from a 2013. A cheaper alternative could be bypass the whole light system and install your own harness going back to the OEM switch.
But, all speculation at this point. I'll be stopping by my local Ford dealer to examine this new headlight system closer up.
Regarding the lights, I wonder what Ford is using as DRLs now? They won't use the HIDs for that so perhaps the front turn signal on full brightness? If so, I really like that method better than using the low beams as they do currently.
Why wouldn't they use the HIDs? They have twice the service length of halogens. And (correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't Canadian requirements say it has to be at least 20% brightness of a full headlight?
Already got confirmation of the HIDs/projectors for the 2013 F-150:
They are Valeo Bi-Xenon Projectors mated to a 2.5" fluted lens with D3S Osram Ballast and 4300K D3S bulbs

Some of the newer Ford models are using the turn signals I've noticed.
Just went to the dealer yesterday...they knew nothing other than what I told them about the 2013's...told me they couldn't order them until November or December, i informed him of the actual order acceptance date and they shrugged it off...I think they basically just wanted me to take a 2012 off the lot rather than ordering exactly what I want.
