I did it again tonight....

:o

....sold my EcoBoost XLT and picked up a new loaded Platinum SuperCrew 4x4 with the 5.0L engine. Man, do I love this truck! Leather everywhere, mood lighting that changes colors (the kids love that), sunroof, navigation, the works. Awesome ride. Hopefully will post some pics this weekend after the weather gets better.

Now I get to do mods again!

Quick pic (more on Page 3):

Lol, I want your job. Anyway, why the 5.0 this time as compared to another eco?

lol....thanks....yeah, I definitely have some serious ADD issues when it comes to vehicles...lol. Seriously though, looking forward to doing some mods except haven't figured out exactly what yet although probably the usual; Magnaflow exhaust, level kit, and 305/55/20s on the Platinum wheels (may go with the Cooper Zeon LTZ or Hankook Dynapro ATM instead of the MTs this time). I kept my 2 sets of PIAA lights and Smittybilt light bar so already have those on.

I really enjoyed driving the Eco, but I was averaging between 10-12 mpg in daily stop and go City driving (hardly ever got any Highway mileage to even things out), and I also just missed hearing the V8 with an aftermarket exhaust. So far, I have seen as high as 20 mpg with an average above 16 mpg in town since I purchased the 5.0L, but it still moves pretty good when you want too and sounds good doing it.

Anyway, I thought I would try it out. Never know, I might go back to the Eco on the next one.

Hey Nasty....well, I couldn't decide between the Silver, Platinum White, or Red Candy so I asked my wife to pick what she liked; so it's the Red Candy. Honestly, it really looks rich with the chrome highlights.

I agree with you about the sound of the V8. I think Ford nailed the sound of the 5.0, one of the best sounding V8's I've heard. I would guess if you lift your new truck with bigger tires again, that you will see pretty similar mileage to the ecoboost. Having to move those bigger tires prolly forced the turbos to spool more than you would want for fuel economy purposes.

You are nuts. My boss has a 2010 Red Candy Platinum.... it is very "rich" haha. I think a level with Dynapro's or Zeon's will look great! If I hang onto mine long enough to buy tires I will be leveling it out and slapping one of those two tires on it.... Can't wait to see your pics!

Desert Dawg, you remind me of ... me!

Since 2007, I've owned 7 vehicles. Since I bought my first car in 2000, I've had 11 of them. I'm hoping my truck breaks the cycle of trade-ins. Gotta love the Platinum though! I would've gone Platinum, but wanting to fit in "regular" parking spaces AND have a 6.5' bed necessitated the Lariat Scab I've got now

Congrats!

-John
