EcoBoost and 5.0L comparo videos
Theres a lot of us because as of SEP Ford has sold 49,104 units of the F150. 40% of those were the EB, 16% were the 3.7. Which leaves the remaining 46% to be shared with the 5.0 and 6.2, which Im guessing the 5.0 takes the majority of that.

Personally the multiple 5.0s I test drove were uninspiring,except for the exhaust note....
Test drove the 5.0 and EB over same routes and no matter what the EB was my unanimous choice...

And I could really care what anybody else drives,I'm very glad I bought the EB!
Well if you pulled with an EB you would understand why!

all the ecoboost nuts (not grouping you in there) think their decision is the best and that everyones elses choice should be the same.
Heres how i've seen the ecoboost arguments go on this forum.
it has better mpg- in reality it's a hit or miss with the truck
it has more power- with a tune and intake (cost of eco upgrade) they're equal, while the MPG and performance probably surpasses most similar eco's with those mods, at worse evens them out.
it tows better- theres a thread going on them over heating with a real load behind them
In city environments, a non turbo'd vehicle IMO is nicer (my opinion). Not dealing with turbo lag is a plus in stop and go traffic. If you work the truck really hard, the torque on the eco will be nice.
I known i've said nothing bad about the 5.0, all the eco owners claim to know them so no point in putting them out there. But the mentality that the ecoboost is the best motor available is ignorant. They are all good motors, talking down to other owners because they had an opinion and went with it is stupid.

When I'm paying for the vehicle I could care less what anybody....except the better half thinks about my choice....

5.0 tows my 18 ft car hauler, 4500lb landcruiser + gear just fine. Has pleanty of power and doesn't struggle.

Exactly the only thing that matters is if you are happy. It doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks. I haven't seen anyone say they wish they hadent bought their 2011. It's miles ahead of anythig the competition offers.
One comparison missing between the Ecoboost and other engine options is the better efficiency and power in the mountains cruising over 11,000' passes. Turbos just do better at altitude. I really don't care about exhaust tones and 1/4 mile numbers when towing 7300 lbs up Wolf Creek pass.
I have no stake in the 5.0 vs EB arguments because I have yet to make my decision (still rockin' the ol' 2004 5.4). However, from the outside looking in the EB owners are coming across as a bunch of self righteous, believe the hype, we are the top of the food chain, crybabies. Anyone who says they love their 5.0 and make even a remotely negative comment about the EB they test drove gets persecuted. Ridiculous.
When it comes to future performance potential...I'll go with common sense and say the 5.0 looks to be the winner.
What its really boiling down to is that the EB is not much more superior to the 5.0 when you really split hairs so the EB owners have to go to the standby "well its far superior when towing".....Again, if the towing was such a deciding factor the EB would not be my first choice....a diesel would be.
The truth of the matter remains the same. Both are looking like great engines. I'm getting tired of seeing all the EB cronies acting like they have the end all be all engine. Its good, but its not God.

Not necessarily, all the engines have the potential to have voided warranties. They are tracking tuning ACROSS ALL VEHICLES esp the F-150s and Mustangs. I would not risk it, but that's just me.
Disagreed from first hand experience.. The diesels, sure. The Mustangs, F150s, etc nope. There is no mystical black box. If you disagree than don't run a tune in your vehicle until the warranty expires. Just know that I'll be running my tune and not worrying about a thing. 

Don't get me wrong I'm not the Warranty Police and don't normally preach about it. I don't care what mods people do to their vehicles and I mod all of my vehicles too. Just saying that you are running the risk of voiding your warranty if you need to take your vehicle in for service and it has been tuned.

But with your point on modding, ok you are right in that a modded 5.0 could be better. But you are then talking about a modded truck against a stock truck, you cant compare that. To top it off your now spending money in which you saved because you bought the 5.0. To get what the EB has you would be out a tuner, and intake easily 500-700 bucks, not to mention you potentially are voiding your warranty. To top it off when you get turbo power its nothing like a power band in an engine without a turbo. So really not a valid point
And as far as turbo lag, its not that serious drive a diesel once.
Time will tell but all early indicators are pointing towards the EB not being as promising as some were thinking when it comes to future potential power when modded....Ford made it real hard to make gobs more power with the EB (and not spend a fortune)...The 5.0 on the other hand....There is still a LOT to be had relatively easy.

What it boils down to is you have a V6 that is out peforming an V8 out of the box from the factory, that is fact. Whether its small or by big numbers that is an amazing thing however you look at it. I think that is a hard thing for a lot of people to get their hands around. Is the EB a be all do all, no, buts its a huge step and is a first in its Generation, its only going to get better.
