EcoBoost and 5.0L comparo videos

I cannot find any, youtube don't return any results with a direct comparison of the two. I have the 5L and have drove the EB, but I gotta say, theres not much difference in performance, and I hated the "suck" sound the turbos emmited all the time. And the sound of that 5L is pure music to the ears.

If anybody has link to a good showdown, I'd love to see it. thanks.

Are you serious? That's funny right there, I don't care who you are. Take another EcoBoost for a test drive, but this time, take the parking brake off. Then let us know.

He's not the only one who felt that way on the test drive, multiple members here have...

NO! this whole thread is one big JOKE. Instead of your retarded reply, add to the thread. from the way I test drove the two trucks, I didn't notice any real difference, other than how awsome the 5L sounded.

I didn't do 0 to 60's with foot to the floor, but did the 90km/hr highway cruise and then put er down and feel the acceleration.

I also did a kind of rolling 30kms/hr to 60kms/hr test, and again, no black n white winner.

But I remember the smile on my face when I heard the v8

EDIT: Just checked the graphs on pickuptrucks.com unloaded 0-60 times shows a difference of only 0.39 seconds between the two engines.

I haven't seen a video like this but if you find a video of a 5.0 Vs. a 6.2 just put the EB a little bit in front of the 6.2 and you'll have a pretty good idea of how things will turn out.

Its really hard to distinguish the difference from the power by seat of the pants. The eco is quicker but only a drag race would show the difference. Your not going to notice any seat of the pants feel. My ecoboost i noticed came alive after 7-8k miles in my case. Ford tuned them pretty rich for break in, and im not sure if they did on the 5.0. I wouldnt doubt it but not really the need. I agree though the 5.0 is an awesome sounding motor. Im not planing on doing any exhaust on my eco cause it will never sound like a v8. Plus after having a history of way too loud trucks im kinda diggin the quiteness. I took a trailer up the grapevine and it was silent and stayed below 2800rpm with plenty of power to spare. Thats the real difference. Its the massive lowend tq. But if your not towing or fully loaded all the time theres really no difference. Just enjoy your truck

Yeah, every day calm driving you won't know a difference. If you drag race them you'll see a .5- .7 difference (huge in drag racing). Also, like Leadsled said "I took a trailer up the grapevine and it was silent and stayed below 2800rpm with plenty of power to spare. Thats the real difference. Its the massive lowend tq"

A 5.0 will run a 14.2 stock and a 13.25 on a Sct custom tune, cold air intake. The EB 's run good but not a slam dunk when RCSB comes to play.

This one runs a low 12.06 on a 75hp squirt.

As far as straight up 0-60 drag racing, there is a very slight noticable difference between the 5.0L and the EB. Put a load behind the 2 trucks and thats where you will see a difference. Just like LeadSled124 said- Enjoy the truck! Whether you have 5.0L or EB they are still F-150's and are awesome trucks! Not trying to be a smarta**, but If you are that concerned about 0-60 times, buy a mustang or camaro, or something of that nature.

Number direct from ford. say yeah but, but they are hard to argue with

MPG
5.0- 14/19
EB-15/21

HP
5.0-360
EB-365

Torque
5.0-380
EB-420

Towing GCWR
5.0-15,300
EB-17,100

GVWR (4x4 Super cabs, 145 wheel base)
5.0-7350
EB- 7700

Payload
5.0- 1830
EB-2000

Plus add that the EB probably weighs 200-300lbs less, Its probably quite a bit quicker. SO I guess if sound makes a truck better, go for the 5.0

In Texas, ever since they started making them. You see them every weekend at the tracks.

Many of us started a long time ago, before the first F150 was made. We still like to have a capable truck, even though we may not race it too often.

Well, I will argue with the mpg on the 5.0. Mine has averaged 19.4 for 12,200 miles of mixed driving. On the highway with cruise at 68 mph, I have a high of 22.7. It usually averages 20.5 to 21.5, depending on weather and wind.

you are adding a variable in which is yourself. Assuming same truck same person the EB will do better everytime.
