Question Rusted screw on license plate

I have had my 2011 F 150 for almost 5 months, and I noticed that 1 of the screws on my back license plate frame is rusted. The other one is not, and the 2 on the front plate are not. I know this is a minor thing, but will the dealership replace this screw? How long do these screws last before rusting? Are these factory screws suppose to be stainless steel, or do I have to buy my own to replace them? Thanks!

From what I've seen around here is that those screws don't usually come from the factory.....the dealer is usually the one that supplies them during prep and setup.....

It would be cheaper to go to the hardware store and get one.....

You would think a $28,000 truck would have screws that don't rust after 5 months. Like I posted, it is a minor thing, but an eye sore. It is not about the cost of the screw.

If you go bust the dealer's chops over a corroded license plate screw, good luck getting proper consideration for any real issues that may occur. I hope your life priorities are more sensible. Go get some chrome plated or stainless steel screws and change them yourself.

Like 88 said, those aren't Ford-provided screws.

Im not promoting these guys but they've got some great ideas in security for our trucks.... http://www.jimmijammer.com/Product,%...%20Keeper.html

Being that I've got personal plates I use their stainless steel security screws......best part is they don't rust like some of those screws the dealers use.....

I've read were the "Big 3" joined buying power to purchase these screws from China, during shipment the cargo hold was flooded, saltwater saturated all the shipping containers.

The Chinese goverment has issued an official apology
The Obama administration has threatend to boycot all trade agreements unless they take care of this.

Hopefully we don't get into another war!

Damn Screws

Unhappy

You're insulted ? I'm a metallurgist and my dealer put plastic screws on the plates !! Stainless steel is the real thing . Anything else is a very poor substitute !

you'd waste more money in gas by driving there than by going into your basement and finding another one. to complain about a screw............

For some people its not about the money, Its the point of receiving a steel rustable screw instead of the proper stainless screw. Heck I just drove 40 minutes 1 way to a Ford Dealership in another town just to get an oil filter rather then buying it at my hometown dealership because I dispise them that much...
