No problem. Ford really screwed themselves on this one..... Talk to your local Chevy dealer and ask if you can put a plow on their half ton. They will go out of their way to point out that you can and that they don't even understand why Ford is willing to give up this part of the half ton market. There really are a good number of owners who plow with half tons.

There are couple 09+ running around here with BOSS V's and Western Pro Plow's hung off the front. Western, BOSS, Fisher, Meyer, and Snoway all make 1/2 ton specific plows but as others have said plow at your own risk.

All the plows around here are attached to 3/4 ton and larger trucks. Ford may lose 10-15 sales because of this, but they've probably gained quite a few more going to EPAS and the slight increase in fuel economy it brings (among other things).

Ford will be fine losing the sales from half-ton plowers...

You don't have electric power steering.

I say people don't base their purchase on the fact a new 11 won't plow. I would get a tractor or F250 if the snow was bad enough. But in Missouri the snow isn't that bad I need my half ton to plow. I could buy a $1500 1985 heavy half for plowing, lol! Our little town uses a surplus duece and a half to plow.

Chevy can say they will plow because they are still on the old steering system. When GM goes to EPASS next year on their next gen trucks, look for Chevy to follow Ford's lead.

However, there is a plow out now from SnowWay that Ford has approved for use with their half ton trucks but not officially...

"Sno-Way did present a Series 26 model snowplow to Ford and tests were completed very successfully and favorably in relation to amp draw affecting the auxiliary electric power steering motor. But, as is Ford’s policy, they stated they never give an advantage to any individual supplier over other suppliers. We at Sno-Way continually refer all interested and concerned parties to the Sno-Way application guide. There will even be a sub frame for the F-150 EcoBoost model November 1st."

Saw that one and debated that guy on it. Although he says Ford has "approved" it, I believe it's a guaranteed way to void your warranty. If you really want to plow your own driveway, I'd suggest buying a beater instead of beating up your brand new truck. Just my 2 cents. (And I plow with an F-350.)

You are correct. Ford did not approve anything and it can be used against you to void the warranty.

It seems that each newer generation of F-150 is made flimsier & lighter to save on fuel. Lord only knows that future F-150's will be like! No thanks I'll keep my 2008 forever!

though it was funny if you look at the more pictures there is one of these on a minivan haha it cracked me up

but if all you want is something to clear the driveway i would troll craigslist for a used 4x4 quad or a lawn tractor and throw a plow on one of those
