Plowing question?
Plowing question?
Does anyone plow with their F150 (my own driveway - not for the city streets or parking lots)?
Also - does anyone know if putting a plow on the front of an Ecoboost would cause a problem with air getting in the intercooler? Actually, snow may block the intercooler..question for the Eco motor forum I guess.

As I said in your other thread (please don't crosspost):

I've seen 04-08 F150's drive around with plows on during the winter, but never any of the 09+ models.

Folks here don't seem to think it's ok to plow with F150's. I've been doing it for years without too many problems. But the 2011 is a different beast due to the EPAS (electronic power assisted steering). See the bulletin below for Ford's statement regarding plowing with a 11.
One comment regarding the EB, Ford went to the trouble of removing/moving the front plate to unblock airflow from the intercooler. I most certainly would not consider adding a plow, if anyone even offered one.

I have a light weight/light duty snowbear plow that I use for my driveway. I don't drive around with it, just plow and unhook it. I had it on my Wrangler and it worked perfectly for my driveway for the past 4 winters. I sold the Jeep and now have the mounting brackets on my truck (06) and I'm sure it will work even better on it since it's at stock height, where the Jeep's frame was 26" off the ground and made the plow angle down while plowing.
This is the onw I have.

But a small used 4x4 tractor and blade for it. Saves wear and tear on your truck, and you won't have to worry about switching mounting brackets, etc. when you trade trucks. Probably not much more $$$ than a plow, and it's more fun anyway!
I just saw that Western is offering a lightweight plow set up targeted for homeowner driveway plowing only. They had a picture of it mounted on a small SUV like an Escape or something. It even had a remote key fob that you used from the cab to hook up. I would think this would be light weight enough to not need the heavy duty package or to overload the electrical system.
