I'm waiting to see one painted white. This one belongs to Joe in Michigan.

Go back and look at post numbers 37 & 38 in this thread. It's at least half of what you're looking for...

I saw that. It doesn't look as good as the solid colored black one. I don't even like black but with the Platinum grill I have to admit it looks pretty darn good.

Freshly painted-to-match (PTM) grille...

Now I can't wait to buy the Carriage Works horizontal billet inserts!
Got any idea if the paint shop had to do anything special to prep the chrome grill before painting?

Just had mine done last week. My painter said they would scuff the grill with 1000 grit and apply a special kind of primer (can't remember what he said). I would think that if you took it to someone they would be able to advise you on what needs to be done. I paid less than $150!!! But I am a repeat customer and paid cash.

Just had mine painted. I haven't seen anyone with a red truck so I thought I'd upload my pics.

Looks good jjjtadpole! I ended up trading in my Platinum for a Super Duty over the summer, so someone else is enjoying it now.

No guts, no glory. Those look freaking awesome but I've always been too chicken to try something like this on my own vehicles.

I have a 2010 Platinum and went to 2 different body shops today and both advised me not to have the stock Platinum grilled painted. They said they couldn't rough the stock grill up enough for the paint to stick. Said I woould be back in 6 months complaing about
the paint peeling from rock dings. Has anyone that has had their grill painted had any issues? Recommendations?

Yep, mine started to peel and flake in some areas. Nothing big or major, but noticeable when you got up close to it.

I took mine to a local dealership body shop. They said the grill isn't designed to be painted, but they told me there is a lifetime warranty against the paint flaking off. So I guess it'll be the PITA of taking the grill apart again and undoing the eleventy billion tabs that hold the surround to the black plastic backing that'll be frustrating, but at least I won't have to pay for it.

Time will tell.
