Thoughts on Tuxedo Black Metallic?

I have a 2009 Black Platinum and I am looking at a 2011 Black or Silver Platinum Ecoboost.

I can't really decide if I like the Tuxedo Black Metallic, it almost looks like it is covered in Pollen in direct sun-light. Anyone have an opinion on it?

I don't like it at all. Much prefer the true black of the earlier years.

A Very nice color. It's the only black shade of paint I've ever liked. Most likely super high maintenance. I would keep a lot of Meg's Polish, NXT 2.0 Wax, Quick Detailer and a DA polisher ready to go at all times.

Agree with the pollen look, black is not a good metallic color, black should be high gloss pure black. Check out Sterling Grey Metallic, that would be my second choice after Race Red.

If you have to buy black it is the way to go, it is about the only black paint I have seen that you can actually detail without looking like you scratched the out of the paint- thanks to the metallic (or glass) fleck in the paint.

Got it and love it. Only downfall is winter time and it looks like crap and its pretty warm in the summer; no different than flat black colors though. Personally I think that the metallic paint will help make scratches not look so prominant on a black truck.

I love mine. Traded in a Limited Excursion in black clearcoat. That showed everything. Every little scratch. I love the flipping of the metallic in the Tuxedo Black.

Saw one at the dealershipt the other day...Black Screw 5.0 Platinum. Looked nice and you can definately see the flake in it. Don't know if I like it better than my black but it was an eye catcher and shimmered close up. I could def see myself driving one around.

I just last week ordered a Ford Escape in tuxedo black metallic. I thought the one the dealer had looked great. Hope we won't be disappointed.

Would have preferred the dark blue pearl that my F-150 is, but that color isn't offered on the Escape.

I am not a fan. I prefer regular gloss black.

I love it on my 2010 FX4. The only problem is that I heard it is a hard color to match if you need it re-painted. I am so scared that someone will rear end me and I will need a new paint job.

Funny story...

When I test drove my truck and then decided to purchase it, it was all on overcast days. I thought it was a straight black color.

The day I took delivery of the truck, it was sunny. It was only then that I noticed the metallic flake. Wow! I was very pleasantly surprised! I think it's a great color.

Oh, the dealer told me that the flake is actually ground up glass that is mixed into the paint. On a sunny day, the glass reflect the sun in a spectrum of color. Really cool.

Not true at all. For 2010 there is only one tint for the Tuxedo Black. Still don't want anyone rear ending me either, but you can match the paint if something does happen.

And if you read the Harley forums, you will read that black is faster than all the other colors!
