Love the truck - Hate the RATTLES

Hi Folks.

For the most part, I love my 2010 Supercrew XLT 4X4, but I am being driven NUTS by the squeaks and rattles! My passenger seat, like many people I've read about on this forum, squeaks like a loud mouse whenever you hit any bump in the road. Constant on the snow covered roads where I live. Worse are the squeaks coming from my front dash. It started about a month after I got the truck. Sounded like something rattling in the defrost vent on the passenger side from time to time, again it happened when there would be a bump in the road. Now there is incessant squeaking coming from in the dash, like a nest of mice squealing. Drives me insane. Because it is not a rattle, but a squeaking sound, I am wondering if it is some type of rubberized material on a contact surface (windshield maybe?) that is causing this, as opposed to a piece of hard plastic.

I would love to hear about any similar experiences and subsequent resolutions.

Thanks.

PS: I fought the oil filter and won by a tko. She was tight, but steady pressure from the underside of the truck held the day.

Yeah on mine the pass side seat belt (bottom) part squeeks against a peice on the seat. Drives me nuts. Move it and it stops for a minute. I've been meaning to see about fixing it for good. I really want to dynamat the interior, it's alot quieter than my old ranger but I wish for more.

Nothing in mine. I did have a problem in my car with the seat belt clicking/squealing. The part where the buckle clicks in would do that anytime you had the seatbelt connected. It actually went away.

Same here with my 2010 Supercab XLT. I had a rattle in the dash near the headlight switch, but managed to have that fixed. I currently have a rattle either behind the instrument cluster, or near the windshield whenever it is cold, once the interior warms up it is gone. I have one with my passenger seat belt, that is not too noticeable, but there. I also have another in the headliner where the sunglass holder is. My worse rattle is in the drivers side rear supercab door, it sounds like something is broken inside the door, a metal on metal rattle when I close the drivers door or go over bumps in the road. I have not had a chance to take the truck in for that yet as that rattle just started up about 2-3 weeks ago. I have had the truck since July.

My main gripe has been the power slider. It rattles constantly. I had it realigned and lubricated at 5k miles and it is now back at 18k with a vengeance. I have a rattle near the windshield above the dash, as well. My passenger seat was squeaking, but a lubrication job by the dealer fixed that. Man I hope we can get all of these sorted out!

This is one reason I got rid of my 2010 and will look at a 2011 or 2012. The build quality of my second 2010 was very poor and there were several rattles with only 4000 miles. It is odd. My first 2010, an early build XLT had no issues. It was built in KC and the Lariat was built in Dearborn. Coincidence?

My FX4 was built in KC and has rattles, so I don't think that's the issue.

My XLT 4x4 was built in Dearborn and it's the quietest vehicle I've owned so far. Early build also, 09.09.10.
I don't the plant location has anything to do with it either.

My 2010 Supercab XLT driverside rear supercab door has the same symtoms you describe. It just started last week. It sounds like your saying like something is broke and slapping around in there. Gonna call the dealer today and make an appointment. BTW I've had the truck since 10/09' and this is the first and only issue I've had.

Same here with the rear drivers side super cab door. Had the truck since March mostly without squeaks or rattles, except for the occasional seat belt rattle. The door just started to rattle as it got cold here. Its only noticeable on bigger bumps or when I close the drivers side door.

I guess I am hard of hearing. My 2010 screw fx4 is nice and tight except when the stereo rattles the drivers door at moderate levels. But I changed the speakers so I own that one. I have logged 12k miles with lots of Colorado back roads full of bumps and holes.

This is also my first new ford in 10 years I did not insulate with Dynomat from day one.

Let me know if you guys find out anything on that rear supercab door before I do. I am off work the entire week after Christmas, so that is when I will probably take mine in for the noise.

2010 rattling? What in tarnation is going on here!? This is not possible. 2010 F150s are proven! Must be one of those unproven 2011 F150's.
