2011 5.0 f-150
that 10.5:1 compression on that 5.0 is where all that power is coming from, Sadly supercharging something with that much compression will only allow about 6lbs before trouble comes along.
Im not hating on the new motors because i really like the line up, but i wonder what a 5.4 with a 10.5:1 compression could do.

Seriously, who care?
At 6 psi the Mustang GT made 543whp and 521ft-pd of torque at the wheels.

Some people like pushing their motors too the limits though the average guy like you and me most likely never will/
Edit : And the Ecoboost have 10:1 of compression. Not that much less then the 5.0 in the F150... I guess we won't see alot of boost out of the Ecoboost then...
hahaha

hahahaFRPP offers a S/C for the 2011 5.0 mustang that puts out 624 hp. I think it can handle boost.

The more I read up on the Ecoboost, the more I think I would like to have it instead of the 5.0. I would sure like to find out when it will be actually be made available and what the cost will be. I was at a local dealer today and talked to a salesman that has driven both the 5.0 and EB and he said he would wait on the EB without a doubt. They also were told at the "ride & drive" there won't be any shortage of trucks with the EB once they are cut loose. So who knows.....

If I go for a new F-150 it will be with the 5.0. Plenty of pulling power for me and I still get that 8 cylinder music. Something about cruising around the country on a two lane road in the summer time in a full size truck wouldn't be the same with "just a V-6." As long as the 5.0 meets my needs, I am sticking with the V-8.

Keep in mind the sales guy is going to play the company line. Ford wants/needs the Eco-boost to be successful. You can bet that regardless of what the Ford sales guy personally thinks, his training seminars all say push the eco-boost, push the eco-boost.

What good does sound do you if the V6 will out accelerate, out tow, and beat you in MPG (TMK, the most three important things to a truck owner on here) than a V8?
It may sound like a v6 out back, but if I can hear two turbos spooling up im usually a happy man! Hopefully an aftermarket air intake and exhaust will help you hear the turbos more...
I'm a traditional V8 guy. I've got a 5.0 Mustang that sounds so good it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I doubt I would trade the V8 in that application, but in my daily driver truck, I'll trade the V8 for a more efficient, more powerful V6 any day of the week.
I don't know about the F-150 but in the SHO and MKS EB you can't hear the turbo at all....it just goes!!!
Ford stated that they designed it so that you couldn't hear them. The diesel crowd is used to that sound but they were probably afraid that when this engine becomes mainstream they would get lots of complaints or questions about that noise
Funny thing is all the guys that I've talked to that have driven one about 50% brag about the great turbo whine... Sounds great!
Now I drove one in a snow storm and I couldn' thear anything? Not sure what noises are in their head? And it was a platinum which is so dang quiet anyway...

I never heard any whine whatsoever in the EB's I drove. I think people wanted to hear it and made themselves believe they heard it. Or they didn't really hear any whine, but they wanted to be one of the 'cool' people that actually heard the turbos, 'cause turbos are cool. LOL
