Ecoboost will have more torque and at a lower RPM therefore more suitable for towing.

 

Doesn't matter what the max HP and TQ numbers will be on the EB - the real point is the TQ curve is gonna be flat as a pancake - it will have more low end torque than the 5.0 and maybe even the 6.2. Think an old 4.9 I6 on steroids.

 

Didn't think about the more stable RWD. Disregard my comment. Ha. I wonder what this beast of a V6 is going to run. And I also wonder what the aftermarket is going to do to really awaken the beast that a turbo V6 could be. but still looking forward to the 5.0

 

Just look at what they're doing with the current car with EB.


They're at over 425hp and 420lb-pd with almost ''nothing'' done to them,

 

I use a long bed ext cab half ton truck for work and I went with a GMC last time, because Ford did not offer a loaded version, I am seeing on page 4 that it shows a
Lariat availble in a 4x4 supercab 163"WB, then on page 12 it shows the long bed is only availble up to a XLT pkg and not availble in the Lariat. Anyone know whats up?
I am guessing its a misprint on pg. 4 and it is not availble in a Lariat just like last 2010. It is nice to see they are offering an aluminum 7 lug wheel for it now.

FYI, on the 6.2L I had a chance to tow with mine last week, went to Colorado with a 1000 pound load in the bed and came back with a 5500 pound trailer all in all it was about a 2000 mile round trip working the 6.2L. I am very impressed with the way that 6.2L pulls and pulls in the mountains. I might even go as far as to say it handles a load about as well as some of the old 7.3L PSDs I had years ago. I am sure the new 400hp 800 foot pound 6.7L would pull circles around it, but 5000-6000 pounds is about all I ever pull anymore so this 6.2L did everything I needed it to do. I was very impressed to say the least. I pulled the same trailer out there back in July with my 4speed auto, 6.0 06' max Silverado and the new 6.2L Ford put the old max to shame, with far more power and better control, and much better mileage too.

 

Yeah, payload for late 2010 was 1810, and now a whopping 1900. Whoopie! Still, not worth much when trying to tag the truck to 11,200 of trailer. Of course I'm having issues at 5,000 pound of trailer, so anything more and I'll pass on to a Superduty anyway. Of course, I reserve my rights to change my mind!

I'd go back, but frankly, the cost for the diesel versus the mild fuel economy gain is not worth the diesel engine cost anymore. Back when diesel fuel was cheaper than gas (not 25 cents more like today) and I could get a sales tax credit if I plated a "D" here in Illinos, it made a big difference. I find it harder to justify a smoker today when I drive it daily unloaded, and only haul a travel trailer 12X a year and a 4,000 pound flat bed 10X a year. Now, if the new 6.7 proves to be good and a real fuel saver over the 6.2L gasser, I may go back and run it 300,000 miles. Somehow, I see a fifth wheel in my future... someday.

 

Im thinking of ordering this

fx4 supercrew with leather and heated seats. 6.5 foot box, 5.0L with upgraded tires and blisteins all the way around. max tow package with power mirrors.

 

Can't get the max tow with the 5.0L regardless of trim. EB is only engine with that set-up.

 

thats gotta be the dumbest logic i have ever heard. ford you failed big time. next they will put coils in the back.

Do you need more than the 9,800lb max the 5.0L provides? The hitch in the max is only rated for an extra 1,000 lbs.

 

Whats your 06 rated at? My 04 was "rated" for 8,700lbs so its not like 9,800 or 9,600 whatever it is... is low?

 

more or less I want the mirrors. when towing one trailers currently I can't see the tires from the mirrors and I like to be able to see them when trailering.
