First thing I thought when I saw the first pic was that all those who have been bother by the "massive gap" in front bumper would be happy now there's some kind of grille down there. Never bothered me one tiny bit, but seemed to be a sore point for some. (Wonder where the license plate bracket will go in 2011?)
Sounds like my guess of just 17MPG may be dead on, unfortunately. Rather have MPG than anything else... oh well.
Let's hope they do more than just the engine, even more so with this very late launch date. MyFord Touch? Gen II ambient lighting? BLIS? HID? Something cool, eh Ford? You can do it.
If they continue on this long path to the 2011 launch, it could be a rare commodity (MY2011), unless, of course, they also delay the theoretically all-new 2012 very late next year also. Then again, perhaps they'll continue with this current model thru the 2013MY, then hit the all-new button for the 2014MY.

I saw that, but can't imagine that's where they'll leave it. (unless like you suggested, it's actually fitted over the driver-side overrider). I can't imagine them removing one of the overriders for the plate, as it would make the truck look lopsided.
The fact that there aren't any style changes makes me feel better about going forward with my purchase. That 6.2L engine sounds nice though. I'm not thrilled with the 5.4L

My guesstimate: From current 14, to 17.

Guess we'll have to see who's right when they finally release the actual figures. I still strongly believe that the 14MPG it gets today will only increase to 17MPG. But maybe something miraculous will happen and it'll be like 18 or 19.
You already get better than 14 mpg right now. If you get 17 mpg with EcoBoost, it will be because something is very wrong or because of your lead foot and 99% city driving. I believe normal people will do much better.

I'm going by the official MPG numbers, and the '09 4x4 is rated 14, so I'm assuming they'll rate the '11 w/EB at 17. But we'll see, perhaps they will be able to eke out some more from it before launch.
This is just official numbers, everyone drives differently so it's impossible to go by that. And the lead foot thing is a bit bizarre, it wasn't me but someone else who said something about jackrabbit starts when I told them I'm always first off the line, which never made sense since not once have my tires ever spun nor has my truck ever surged ahead and thrown me back in my seat as I slammed on the gas or any such thing. Being first off the line doesn't mean that happens, sure it COULD, but has never happened to me. I just step on the gas and move on out, but never does it appear my vehicle is jumping into action or accelerating at such a pace as to be abnormal in any way. I think most people driving trucks must accelerate very slowly for whatever reason suits them, probably why so many other drivers take advantage and swoop in front of them all the time on the roadways. You can very easily step on the gas bringing it to maybe 2 or 2.5 on the tach and get moving along without your vehicle ever jumping off the line or otherwise doing something ridiculous like you're in a race or something. Not sure why so many seem to not believe that, unless as stated above, they are content to start slow to really conserve fuel or start slow because it's their natural driving style. I like to move along with traffic myself, usually 5MPH over the limit, never any more though (not interested in flying down the roads I like to be somewhere in the middle of the pack, not too slow, not too fast). As to the other point, that's always well taken. 99% city driving will always be worse than a mix, or all hwy. No prob there. But again, that's why I'm going with the official rated MPG number for a 4x4 '09 F-150, not some random set I made up just to fit me, or one of the other thousands on the road.

some of you are confusing city vs. highway mpgs. Cometflash is talking about the city rated mileage.
I only get 12.8 all city mpg in my 5.4, but have gotten 18mpg on an all highway trip. I don't see the EB getting a whole lot better, at least in a heavy 4x4 crew cab model.

"I was getting about 15.4mpg quite steadily until I hit about 5000miles on the odometer, then I dropped to about 14.3-14.4mpg. No idea why. Sucks, my 2004 SuperCrew w/3.73 got 14.4mpg for the 5 years I had her. I do about 99% city driving, and never baby any of my trucks. Not sure why the mpg drop on my 2009, unless they have already changed the gas formula now that fall/winter season is ahead?"
Have you checked your fuel economy recently? If I was you I would want to find out why my fuel economy keeps dropping. You might be surprised to see it back up again with different gas.
You write that a lot of people like to talk about a combined rating because it makes them seem like they are getting more than they do. How is someone who reports a combined rating getting more than they do? A combined rating is what it is. No more, no less.
