New motors worth the wait?

I have a buyer for my current truck, which is paid for. I've been kicking some tires on dealers lots, looking at 2010's. There are some great deals to be had. I'm debating on whether to purchase a 2010 or wait for the new powerplants in 2011.

What do you all think?

I guess you'll have to wait until they are both out and you can test drive both of them for comparison. I have a '10 and think the 5.4 puts out plenty of power, but I wouldn't argue if they threw a few more ponies in there. I guess it depends on if you need a truck now or if you can wait a little bit.

Has anybody seen numbers for the 2011's? Are they supposed to be adding more HP?

Short answer: We'll know in @ a year. 2011's start production Nov 22/10. So you may be driving one in Jan best case scenario.

If you can wait that long... I would. But only confirmed new engine is EB. No confirmed #s yet, but HP @ 400 TQ should be @ or over 400.

I think you should take the deal. Go with the 2010. Then buy the 2013 after the all new model F-150 comes out.

There are some great rebates right now, I'd do the 2010 personally.

Since your considering a 2010 you'll have to decide now if you think the ECO will be superior to the 5.4. (Personally, I wouldn't consider the 4.6 at all.) I don't think it will be; not enough so to make you wait for it. The 6.1 would be nice, but it will likely be something you don't really need and you'll pay a pretty penny for it. Personally, I definitely would consider the 6.1 and think it just may be worth waiting for, but probably not. I wouldn't wait just for the different engines. As eluded to in other posts, the deals are now. They probably won't be as good for the '11 truck. Buy now and get another truck in a few years. It is only money.

I agree with Rambo. Take the very good deals on the 2010 and look again in 2013 or 2014.

I needed a truck this year so I couldn't wait. You will pay 5-6 grand more for the first 2011. There won't be any rebates on the 2011 for 4-5 months anyway. I am happy with the 2010. I wish I had gear control in tow haul and 400hp like is rumored for 2011. But it does it all for now and I got a good deal.

I don't think you will ever see the 6.2 in the F150 other than limited production vechicles like the Harley and Raptor. The stricter mileage requirements from the Feds will make it hard for Ford to put the 6.2 in a lot of F150's.

I agree, just like the Mustangs. This is why I bought the 2010 Mustang GT also. Granted, the 5.0 is hot, but I'm not going to pay $5-6 grand (at least) more for it when I can wait and get it cheaper in a year or so. Same for the F-150.

You just summarized about 5 years of speculation...

If Ford has the EB and 5.0L available, and the 6.2L comes at a premium price, than they won't sell that many. See GM. Try to find a 6.2L Gm on a lot.
