Super Cab and 5 1/2' Box??

I am in the process of looking for a new truck. I thought I would just get a new body F-150 with a Super Cab and 5 1/2' box. My buddy has a 2007 with the Super Cab and 5 1/2' box, and it looks sweet. I wonder why they don't offer this in the 2009 or '10? Does anyone know anything about this? This is the only thing holding me back. I want a Super Cab, but I don't want a 6 1/2' box. Come on, Ford!

PS - I know the 'Raptor' has this combination, but I'm not a fan of the Raptor. I want an FX4 or Lariat...

Not sure if there's a question here - they don't offer it in that configuration so you're going to have to come to terms with it.

Well, if that's the way it is, I think it's a stupid choice on Ford's part. I think that's the best-looking configuration. I hate to consider GM...taboo words in these forums. Why would they get rid of that option? They seem to cater to their customers elsewhere. Makes me mad. Guess I'll have to keep looking in the classifieds for an '08 that someone hasn't beaten the **** out of.

actually I think they did still offer that configuration in 2009, but since dropped it for 2010. So check for some 09's as well but I'm sure they will be rare.

I agree with Stevie, looks like they offered in 09 for all trim except the XL.

Oh, and I think they don't now, or hard to find, because maybe only like 10 people wanted that config. Stupid config and look if you ask me, just my opinion. Thanks

Yeah, let's not ask your opinion anymore (if you're going to cut down others' tastes). You're probably 65 with a tan leather interior and 15 inch wheels.

here, not sure where you're from, but I actually remember seeing this on my local craigslist, it's an 08 though:

You can have it...

But you need to buy a Raptor for that.

1 foot makes a huge difference. I have a 6.5 bed on my supercrew, and that thing looks a lot longer than a supercrew with a 5.5 bed. They look sportier with the short bed. I think my truck would look retarded with rims or a drop kit. It just seems too long.

Cool Write Ford

Whether you liked the 132.5" wheel base or not. Ford dropped it from production except for Raptor due to some complexity issue in the plants. It would be easy to get back as all of the frame assemblies are not much different except the Raptor is 4x4 only and they would need to reinstate a 4x2 frame for that wheel base.

Write Ford a letter. If enough people wanted it back and it made sense to bring back, they would. I bought a new super cab 4x4 this year and I was going to consider the short box for garageability. But it did not stop me from getting the SC 6.5' I love these trucks and nothing short of the end of the world will keep me away. Chevy's are OK, but Ford rocks!

When I ordered my '04 in that configuration it delayed the order because the plant didn't run that configuration at all times. I much prefer my '10 with the 6.5' bed - smoother ride with longer wheelbase and ability to haul lumber easier.

STEVEVFX4 and the others that said that configuration was avaliable on the 2009 F150 was correct "HOWEVER; HAS SINCE BECOME UNAVALIABLE ON THE SUBSEQUENT MODLES. IF YOU WANT A SHORTER BED BUY A CREW CAB." If you need a shorter truck you should probably reconsider moving up and hold on to your powder blue prius for another year or two. till somthing more appealing to your lifestyle becomes avaliable.

It's funny that this topic was brought up. I was just thinking about this the other day. For me it's one of those "more money than brains" or "dream mod". That being said it is possible. If you had a Reg Cab, 6.5 Bed Config, the Ex-Cab 5.5 Bed could be swapped on the frame.
Maybe I'll do a P-Chop for fun.

Edit:

Here's what I came up with.

What do you guys think?
