so when you program the chips on the inside of the key does it automatically link the buttons to the truck or is there another thing going on?

The programming process is in your owners manual. You'll program the key and the remote portion. Very easy to do, as long as you have both factory keys.

Hit the links posted ealier in the thread. The key has a slit at the top of the key, just like anyother key. Thread your round key ring through it and your good to go.

Small clarification: You don't need both factory keys. You need two unique PATS keys that have been programmed (similar to the factory keys). Ace Hardware and some locksmiths can duplicate a PATS key, but two duplicated keys will not enable you to program a third key.

I have this key and tried attaching a ring when I first got it and it is VERY difficult. A standard size ring (about 1" diameter) will not fit. I also tried a small ring (about 1/2" diameter) and although it did fit, it was very snug and didn't allow the remote to "swing" on the ring because it was so rigid.

I ended up not using a ring at all and actually prefer not having it attached to all of my other keys. Other than that, I love it!

Exactly what I thought, and why I wanted a picture. I've got an idea though, so I will probably order one anyway.

It's been awhile since anyone has posted in this thread, but I figured I would provide an update.

I recently pulled the trigger on this remote. I got mine off eBay, from the same guy, Artiway. Shipping was right under two weeks. I went today and had the key cut. I do NOT recommend bringing it anywhere other than a locksmith/lock shop. They have special machines that they insert the key in, and it will cut it according to the year/make/model of your vehicle. The reason I recommend this is, if wherever you take the key, messes it up, you are out $60. Also, once the key is cut, put it in your ignition, and try to turn it on. If it goes to the on position, the cut is good(remember, it will not start the engine until your program it, but it will turn the vehicle on).

After getting it cut, I just followed the instructions that Artiway provided. The instructions were short, sweet, and to the point. They provided everything you need, and nothing more. In less than two minutes actual time I had the entire thing programmed, and it works like a charm.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the function of the device, it is top quality. I also like that there is a Ford emblem on the back of it as well. The only concern I had, which I voiced earlier, was adding a key ring to it. Well, I located a tiny keyring flashlight I had, and removed the ring from it. The ring was the EXACT size it needed to be for this remote. It was fairly tough to get on, but once I did, it worked great as well. Here are some pictures:

Not sure actually, but the extra key seems programmable. I don't have remote start, so I have no way of testing.

I asked the ebay dealer that everyone was referring to on this thread and he said he didn't know of any that had remote start on it.

Wish they made these for aftermarket alarms. Something DEI should think about with all their custom 2-way remotes.

Well i pulled the trigger last week and purchased one of the flip key . I recived the key yesterday and after going to the dealership and them telling me the fob part of the key was to big to fit in there machine and Homedepo telling me it was a chipped key and they wanted $65 to cut it I went home and thought about it and took a chance and took the fob apart to try and gain access to just the key . I found that if you remove the little ford symbol there are 2 little phillips head screws there remove them and the key shank will come right out then looking at the shank there are tiny phillips heads screrws you remove them and there you have just the key shank. I then took it back to the dealer to have it cut and with no problems I might add. Get home reassimble the key to the fob and presto its as good as new. I did the programing my sefl in the drive way it took about 10-15 min total asper the Ford owners Manual and so far it seems to work great.. I'll report back in a week to update on the flip key..
