Has anyone had trouble with gas leaking during fillup?

I was filling up my truck last week and noticed gas pouring out. I turned off pump and readjusted with no help. Gas was running out down the side. I took a video of it and plan on showing dealership but wanted to see if it happen to others along with their story before I do. Do my homework before approaching ford.

I have only had that happen if I try to fill it to the very top of the neck. After 2 times I learned not to do that anymore...lol. Now if yours is not even close to full then you have a problem and it sounds like the leak is at where the neck attaches to the tank.

No issues here...have filled up my '09 many times and never had any issues. Good luck!

Extinguish...I just noticed your truck is an '02? If that's the case, I'm not sure what kind of filler tubes/necks the 97-03's have on them...

After seeing a spill from filling up past the 1st shut-off click, it was all it took for me to stop when the 1st shut-off click occurs.

I haven't had any problems with mine yet but I'm still on my first tank - right at 250 miles so far.

Like mentioned more than likely overfilled.

Well this was definitely prior to overfill point. I noticed it about 10 gallons into fill of an empty tank. I guess I will just take it in and show them the video.

That happened to me the other day actually, when i was filling up i was only putting a half tank in but was holding the end of the nozzle so it was just barely in there and some fuel game splashing out from behind somehow and leaked all over the ground like down the inside of the rear quarter and down the fuel neck. Seems to me like it could be an issue if gas can get out there im sure dust and stuff could get in there. Ill have to see if i can do it again next time i fill up.

It sounds like more of an issue with the pump or the insertion of the pump. I have about 10k miles and have not had any issues. I always fill it till it shuts off then one more to make sure it did not stop way early and never a problem.

If you are trying to say that the cover that flips in or out is the problem they have always had a similar metal piece in there just added another on the outside. Not sure exactly where it is coming out.

I think it's definitely an insertion issue, just too eager I guess.
