when you get that beauty squared away in your garage, please do us a favor and go over to the tundrasolutions forums and make a new thread titled "i made a decision!!!" with a nice big 1280x1024 picture of a 2009 F-150 in the first post we need a good laugh!

 

I havent read everyones post so i am sure that i am repeating things but i have a 2010 fx4 5.4l and 2 of my friends drive tunras. The tunras are great trucks, and have a TON of power and are pretty roomy. However the inside it pretty simple and the stereo is terrible. Also im not a big fan of the front end and they drive a little rougher. But they can tow just about anything are tough built. But i would take my fx4 over it anyday. It has a much better interior setup and drives like a dream. The 5.4 6 speed may not be the quickest, but i pull my rhino and boat just fine with it.

 

Sounds like a lot of people pick the turdra over other brands just because of the power/HP. Foreign & ugly doesn't even matter. Crazy.

A mechanic that comes into my work all the time for his personal needs had a conversation with me about the tundras a few months back. He's the head mechanic in one of the biggest local toyota dealerships in my area and I'm not going to get into the issues, but lets just say the toyota dealer has been here locally for over 25 years, and he's been there over 15 years, and his last words to me were "the tundras are in my shop, taking up my room, wasting toyotas warranty money more then any vehicle we've ever sold"

Needless to say, i'd rather not have the issues he's described to me. And it was clear to me toyota quality lost alot into this truck.

I had a 1995.5 toyota tacoma at one point and it was an excellent vehicle, then they took it back due to beer can frames killing people.. that was my last foreign vehicle..

My point is to buy something you like the best, because frankly they all have major issues along the line.
I mean come on toyota quality? Yea they run forever, but the rust totally away in the process so what good is it when its still running strong and the frame and suspension parts cant past a state inspection..

I have a 1995 ford f-350 dualie at my work with 200,000 miles on it all original. Its still rust free after 16 years of hauling loads three times it capacity, and never been washed once even in nys winters. That truck has run on anything its ever been given.

To me things like that make me clear what to buy. My mom just bought a 2010 honda civic. She had a 2000 honda civic with 160,000 trouble free miles. The 2010 has been to the dealer twice with mechanical issues and it doesnt even have 1,000 miles on it.. To me the days of so an so's quality are gone.

 

I'll be meeting up with some friends next weekend that are driving cross country from Denver to Florida and back in their Tundra. All I ever hear from them is Tundra Tundra Tundra, and Ford jokes. I've driven their Tundra and thought nothing of it. Wasn't blown over by it or had a lasting impression left because of it. I used to have an FJ Cruiser, but once I ditched it for the Ford, it's been nothing but jokes. This will be their first time seeing it, so I hope to make a good impression. They like to race Mustangs in their truck, so I know power won't wow them, and I just hope the tranny shift and driveline clunk doesn't embarass me.

 

I finally bought a truck after looking for a couple of years. Couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I've owned various Nissans over the years. Very reliable, good bang for the buck. Tried to buy a 4dr, 4wd, with a sunroof. Impossible. Though you can build them on the Nissan website, not available per the dealer. Nissan confirmed it. Must only make a few, and gone before I had a chance.

Didn't really like the look of the Tundra, and hadn't seen the videos of the trucks being tested at that time, so priced one online. $52K with most of the goodies, factory only offering about $600 incentive.

Really liked the looks, features, and capabilities of the Ford. $45K window sticker for the FX4 with most everything I'd want. Dealer knocked off $3500, Ford gave $4500 in factory incentives. DEAL!

If I wanted to race, I would have kept my 97 Cobra. I need to tow a travel trailer, and neither the Nissan nor the Tundra do a better job.
